The time has come once again to make a potpourri of my productions.
Every time I make a new one, it’s a small proud moment of still being able to make music that I can stand behind – it’s now been three decades since I started, and it’s not always easy!

It’s all it is: nerdy jungle of the highest order, celebrating the power of breakbeats.
Also, this is more a music showcase than an intense DJ skills achievement.

Welcome to episode 512 of the Everyday Junglist Podcast!

Episode 511 brings us a fantastic mix from one of the minds behind Codename:RCRDS!

Before we get to Moak's mix, I'm going to spotlight some of my favorite tunes on Codename:RCRDS that you should pick up off their bandcamp. Trident: Feel Good(Jungle Rollout), Moakz: Back to Earth, Worselyy: Sandy Rain, Code of Silence: High Riser, and Arkyn: Lost City.

Moakz's mix features lush atmospheric tunes, upfront smashes, and amen bangers, all the tunes are Codename:RCDRS releases or forthcoming tracks from the label, so keep those eyes peeled, terrific selection on this mix!

Let's meet our dj for episode 512, Moakz:

1. Tell us about Codename: RCRDS.
Codename: RCRDS launched in April 2023 and is run by myself (Moakz) and Dave (Chiron) with support from Jon (Clinical Sound) and Gav (Rome).  The label is based in Southampton, UK, and we have been working pretty tirelessly on it for just a little under a year now.  As of the end of September there have been 10 releases to date, with more to follow.  The label releases Jungle, dancefloor Atmospheric DnB and Hardcore influenced 160+ music, and everything in between, and our approach to music is one of creativity - we encourage all artists working with the label to push their boundaries and produce inventive exciting music, albeit with a nod to '90s / early '00s golden era vibes.  The label was born from our Codename: Amen event in the city, and we felt it was a natural evolution from the event to move into releasing music.   I had been releasing my own music fairly regularly with great label owners such as Chris (Eschaton) at Omni Music, and Ian (West) at Default Recordings, and felt I had learned a lot from them as to what I wanted to see from a label, but focussing on different styles that we were passionate about, and at that point I had a lot of other material queued elsewhere for a variety of reasons I won't go into, and so it felt like it was time to take control of my own music more regularly.  Additionally, due to the connections I had made with so many amazing artists, I was getting to hear all sorts of fantastic music really early way before it was signed, and so it just made sense to start on this journey.

We're finishing 2017 with a bang! Beat Spectrum are really proud to present the 'Perpetual Motion EP' by Fizik & SkOpus, featuring MC Tree on the vocals.

Based in New Zealand, these guys have been heavily involved in the Wellington bass music scene for a number of years, supporting all the major players and developing their sound. They've really managed to nail those snappy, techy snares and intelligent basslines that are proving to be extremely popular at the moment. This EP is definitely one for the heads.
