Thundercloud (Wub Machine Remix)

a follow on from Drone Experiment 1. This track was created in Ubuntu linux by creating a drone in din which was then split. One instance was fed into a vocoder (in Rakarrack) to be shaped by a simple tabla drum rhythm created in Hydrogen. The other instance was fed into Jack Rack where it was treated with a sweep filter with Q and f slowly varied by the orbit of a lorentz attractor. Both feeds were then remixed and recorded with TimeMachine, while the vocoded drums and the harmonics of the original drone were manually varied throughout play.

Simple Drone

Similar to Drone Experiments 1 and 2, but this uses a different range of filter sweeps and other effects, plus a drop in octave and some falling risset tones, as well as a loop of a rendition of the mantra from the Heart Sutra as a source for vocoder modulation of the main drone for rhythmic effect

Heart Sutra Drone

Nothing particularly new here... playing with the lorentz sweep filter on both the percussive track and the drone to pick out a melody from the harmonics

Drone Experiment 3

A stripped down version of Experiment 3 (no percussion, slightly different values on the sweep filter less harmonics in the drone which uses a mixolydian modal scale to place the harmonics at C,E,G,A,Bb) which I think came out more melodic
