I am enjoying the learning curve of how and what and when to mix tracks - I suspect it is a journey with no end, and that makes me happy... even when it gets me all mixed up inside when it doesn't want to do what I want it to do - but perhaps it creates a new kind of interesting creature when it does ;)

This set was inspired by The Doors, laughter, freedom, friendship and opposites. For this mix, I focused more on playing the tracks I wanted to play, and less on getting the transitions right. It was fun, in the end.

The inspiration for this set was RITUAL, and it was made during the Scorpio Lunar Eclipse. 
The hero must find the courage to cross the threshold into the innermost cave of her fears... where the ten-headed beast of truth guards the treasure.

Live recording of an epic 40th birthday celebration of a dear friend. The theme was to dress up as your favourite fictional character - and you had to have a story ready. I was reluctant to upload the live recording as I thought too many things went wrong... then realised it's all just part of my story, as it is. Besides, the dancers had a great time, so I'm sharing!

Sweet Love 11Feb23

“Empty your mind

These are Bruce Lee’s famous words. But what does it mean to “be water“?  Water flows and adapts. It has no plan, but deals with the environment that it finds and fully explores the space. It has no expectations of what it will find. It forgets when it leaves one space to find the next. And it always remains the same inside even as it flows and adapts outside. 
This relates to the Taoist concept of Wu Wei – knowing when to act and when not to act.  Wu Wei can be translated as “effortless doing” or “effortless action”.  It connects to the Greek concept of “Kairos” – recognising the right moment to act, and knowing in the moment the right way of acting. In order to do this, we must turn inwards and go back to our intuition, and really become good at listening to our  internal voice. This is the path to being water.

In this FREE FLOW dance we are just catching and riding the wave – nothing to know or remember or do. Imagine every song is a new place… fill it, occupy it, inhabit it, embody it. Set your body in motion and let the flow take you… and see if you can allow the changes to be easy by staying in your flow. And when in doubt: BREATHE, SOFTEN AND RELEASE.

And that's all dancing really is, a series of next steps... not that we dance to get anywhere, we dance because it works, because we feel good. So, whatever you're feeling, whatever is going on in your life - give it to the dance.

In Praise of Winter 27Jun24

In this Free Flow dance, we are invited to remember and celebrate our inherent connectedness. Our bodies are internally connected to the microbiomes in our gut, as well as to the elements – the earth of our Mother in the physicality of our bodies, the air of the Winds we breathe into our lungs, the water of the Ocean in our sweat and blood, and the fire of the Sun that animates our movements. Underneath our feet, billions of connections are happening every second, through roots and mycelial networks. With our eyes or hands we can connect with other bodies in this space, to community. Or we can simply put a hand on our heart and one on our tummy, and connect with ourselves. 

May you deeply know your connectedness.
