Dublin house duo Obskür make their Defected debut with returning artist and vocalist SHELLS. Raised on a diet of Defected classics, the boys honed their craft in lockdown and reaped the rewards after, having already worked with leading industry names Eats Everything, Pete Tong and Gorgon City. Their previous release ‘Daydreaming’ saw UK radio support from Danny Howard, Sam Divine and TCTS thanks to its pure house sound that showed a respect for where the genre came from. Belocca has a loyal fanbase in Korea, hence his multiple performances at the Resistance stage in Seoul. This is also where he met Korean DJ IZREAL, as she was making waves on the Korean techno scene. Matador is back on his own mighty Rukus label with another forward thinking EP.

Irishman Matador is an underground mainstay who has constantly innovated in the studio and always serves up scintillating soundtracks in the club. Last time out he explored an emotive house sound and across two tracks here he reverts to his own brand of techno.

Maddox has plenty of raw percussive power and lithe drums. The strobe lit snares really light it up as the monstrous bass rolls underneath and locks in the groove. Nightwalker is a more haunting cut with eerie synth leads ringing out over rooted drums. Percussive details add great dynamism and dark vocals bring plenty of menacing moods next to a trippy pad that will get hands in the air.

These are two more terrific tunes from Matador.
