Biography - Stephane Deschezeaux
Activist of the funk scene and nudisco for ten years, Stéphane Deschezeaux, chain releases on these
two labels: Springbok Records and Plaizir Muzic. Producer but also deejay, it is in the years 2000, that
Stephane, begins to mix in club, he will be resident during 4 years, in the funk room, of a big club of his
city, in parallel, Stéphane buys material of music, his first synthesizer a Korg M1, will allow him to learn
the music, he will produce his first song using the Atari 1040 Ste (40 mega hard drive), of course the first
production remains very basic, but with the experience and meetings, Stephane will forge a real style,
mixing Funk disco and its more modern like house or deep.
today his productions are regularly ranked in the charts and playlisted in many radio.

Welcome to the Word Is Love Show and in this show we explore the boogie of New York's Studio 54 going on a journey through 70's and 80's New York Disco.

Covering Disco, Funk, Rare Groove, House, Latin and Soul, there's a toe tapping and booty shaking range of tracks to listen to.

Expect classic tracks by The Bee Gee's, Chic, Chaka Khan and Diana Ross plus a bunch of tracks you may have never heard before that were played down at the club.

To describe the Hedonism of this legendary 70's New York hot spot here is an article by The Independant:

'"People were tired of being serious," one regular to Studio 54 reflects in a landmark new documentary of the same name about the infamous NYC disco nightclub. The epicentre of ’70s hedonism in the post-Watergate era, it was a magnet for beautiful stars, casual sex, and mounds of cocaine. A den of excess that defined its own rules and enshrined the ostracised, queer, and fabulous.

Studio 54 was a place where people could rub shoulders (and probably more) with the rich and famous, the club's ethos being that money didn't matter but personality, outlook, style and - above all - enthusiasm for life did.  Andy Warhol, Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor, Debbie Harry, Grace Jones, Michael Jackson, Calvin Klein, Elton John, Rick James, Truman Capote, Freddie Mercury, Ric Flair, Lou Reed, Al Pacino, Cher, David Bowie, Salvador Dalí, Robin Williams and Jackie Kennedy Onassis were all regulars, and that doesn't even put a dent in the list.'

The mix has been put together in a raw 'Shooting from The Hip' style of cut mixing and blend mixing to give it that authentic New York Loft Party feel that was synonymous of the time.

Washington, DC's own Kromanauts deftly fuse together reggae, hip-hop, ska and more to create irresistible tropical soul.  In 2018 the band released their debut album and are excited to follow up that release with remixes of the album's title track, Nothing To Lose.  


The Kromanauts tapped some red hot producers around the world to reinterpret this track and first up is Jayl Funk from Germany.  Jayl Funk fully embraces the vibe of the original and doubles down in every department. Get ready for harder hitting drums, bigger basslines and some really cool horn lines throughout.  The result is to take this groovy reggae track straight to the dancefloor, this remix will get the people moving and grooving all night.  Complete with a full breakdown and build-up, that hangs on the vocals until the drop for full effect.
