The biggest, most badass love goes out to Sam KDC who has gifted us with an absolutely astounding podcast (#064) ahead of his On the 5th Day appearance at Corsica Studios on September 1st. If you’ve been an avid collector of game-changing, quality techno and experimental over recent years then you’ll most likely know the score. Sam KDC (aka Samuel Wood) is a devoted boundary pusher within the electronic music field, producing since 2002 and making his own solid and hugely significant mark during the years that followed. Working closely alongside fellow musician ASC (James Clements), Sam KDC played a critical role in shaping the revolutionary vision of ASC’s Auxiliary label, contributing a multitude of releases along the way, helping to ensure it became the go to for deep, “outside the box” techno that it is today. He and ASC are also the pioneers behind the unique style that inspired Grey Area, a label collaboration between Samurai and Auxiliary, uniting 128 bpm with 170/85 bpm in a seamless, polyrhythmic, big impact manner.

As demonstrated herewith, Sam KDC’s mind-bending approach to techno and experimental, and the characteristics and complexities of his style - with its multiple BPMs and dynamic, shifting hearty pulse - culminate in an almighty rhythmic hurricane fuelled by a strong emotional power, sweeping you through mountainous peaks and caverns before releasing you in a breathless heap on the floor! His meticulously controlled sets, vibrating with depth and tension make it impossible to turn your attention elsewhere… and the good news is there’s plenty more where this came from when Sam is united with Corsica’s better than ever almighty sound system on September 1st. No doubt, Regis has been one of the most influential artists for most of us in the electronic music scene. When we heard of his secret passion for Jungle we had the idea to have him play such a set for us once. You can imagine how proud and happy we were, when it happened. Many people came down to witness this rare thing on a Sunday afternoon and it was a blast. Enjoy the recording!

STAUB is a project that came to life in Berlin around 2013. It aimed to detach itself from the hype and business from techno. The idea was simply to not announce a lineup and treat everyone the same without separating headliners from the rest. This strictly equalitarian but also very familial and friendly concept allowed to give chances to newcomers on a regular basis and to build a tight-knit community.

As time passed it also became an outlet to release music staying true to these ethos. Everyone is paid the same, doesn't matter who you are, it's all about music and respect. 

It has somewhat become customary to have a record ready to celebrate its birthday. As STAUB turns seven, STAUB's fifth installment  (STAUB 5 / IRIS007) will be available at „STAUB - 7 YEAR“ Event at :// about blank.

Last summer we started our sub-label DUAT Moving Pictures just to release movie scores and we started the project with the soundtrack of the Netflix movie "Kidnapping Stella" by Michael Kamm. The idea was, to get those cinematic songs remixed by various electronic music artists and release that interpretation on our mother techno label DUAT. This is the first chapter with great works by Vril, Anja Zaube, Amin Fallaha and R100, available on Vinyl and digital.

One of the great powers music has is to synchronize our senses with a specific place, time, and feeling. Anja Zaube utilizes this aspect well, whether it be through her blissfully cathartic DJ sets or her intentional and well-executed live sets. Here we are presented with the latter,  an excursion into the depths of Anja's personal sonic universe that brings us into the elements and out of the body. Layered with thickets of field recordings, live synth work, and delicately pulsating percussion, it plays as one long-form piece that gradually shifts and seduces the mind. With close ties to ://about blank and the Berlin underground, Anja channels a certain mystique and sound that is characteristic of all that goes on here. So lose yourself in this special live edition of UNRUSH and feel time start to slip away...

Anja Zaube’s DJ-bio starts in 2000, when she began playing psytrance but quickly turned towards playing more and more techno. After first appearances in the left-winged underground of Berlin under the alias „Nanday“ she took a short break and had a come-back to the turntables in 2008 with her new name ANJA ZAUBE. That’s when she started playing in clubs such as Golden Gate, Cassiopeia. Lately you can listen to her sets in ://about blank for example (among others). 

After playing different genres of electronic dance music, Anja‘s sound turned darker and harder. Her interpretation of Techno is deep, bleak, but also industrial and experimental. That‘s what makes her sound unique and what finally got her several bookings in Berghain already and made her a popular DJ in the Berlin Underground Techno Scene. 

 After her first release in 2014 on the ://about blank 001, a sampler in celebration oft he club‘s jubilee, she also released her first own EP on the label HET, named Sylvan Structes EP, and is gonna release a lot more soon, starting with her own label which is gonna be launched in January 2016.
