Continuing to redefine and reinvigorate the sound of trance and progressive music, Grum finally pulls back the curtain on ‘Deep State’, his brand new artist album out now on Anjunabeats.

Reflecting the unsettling times we live in, ‘Deep State’ has moments of light and dark. It’s a showcase of Grum’s ability to craft pitch-black progressive and immersive vocal pop. The 10-track album is a refined take on the current state of progressive trance.

With tinges of classic trance and 90’s rave culture across the record, Grum embraces vintage dance floor ideas in a thoroughly modern way. Acid-edged summer hit ‘Stay’ introduces Natalie Shay to the dance music world, also lending her voice to the anthemic LP closer ‘Afterglow’. ‘Running’ sees Grum partner with the soulful voice of London’s Jinadu, while Dom Youdan muses on the monotony of modern life with ‘Tomorrow’. ‘Home’, featuring Nicole Dash Jones, provides a deeper moment the mix, before the intensity of ‘Genesis’ and ‘Altered State’ take over.

Robots War moves through glowing streets, electric signals and the quiet tension between cyborg and emotion. The sound is deep, pulsing and gritty, built on synth layers that feel both human and machine at the same time.

"Circuits in My Heart" opens with a steady electronic heartbeat, telling the story of a being who feels through wires and voltage instead of skin. "Cyborg Detective" drives into a neon soaked city where rain, smoke and data blend together, following a lone figure searching for truth among circuits and shadows. The title track, "Robots War," explodes into a clash of steel and sparks, with towering warnings, burning lights and machines rising through thick smoke.

Robots War is a world of chrome skies, coded dreams and cities that never sleep. Every track carries the energy of a future where love, danger and resistance flow through cables, screens and electric hearts.

Taking a look back at one of our favorite releases on the Shores imprint from Emergent Music veteran Roman Prus, we pleasantly revisit the Lunar Hook EP, this time remixed by a solid variety of veterans from the roster as well.

Having been a monumental collection from the start, the 4 tracks found on the original 'Lunar Hook EP' were definitely a turning point for this increasingly talented and varietal producer, pushing a new and more deep derived sound for Roman. Now we see 4 veteran names at Emergent Music step up to the plate to give their own spin on each of these singles, the roster includes Mizar B, Skua, Will Canas and Shwin, who all delivered some stand-out remixes that take each track in a different direction than the originals, just as anyone would expect from these truly versatile and talented artists.

Grum’s ‘Deep State’ transmissions resume...
Conspiracy theories have been running wild around the disappearance of Graeme Shepherd a.k.a. Grum’s second (or is that third) artist L.P. ‘Deep State’. Announced late in 2018, the album vanished. While he cannot confirm nor deny some of the more colourful conjecture around the album’s withdrawal, Grum and Anjunabeats are pleased to announce that ‘Deep State’ is back, rewired and reinvigorated for 2019.

Reflecting the unsettling times we live in, ‘Deep State’ has moments of light and dark. It’s a showcase of Grum’s ability to craft pitch-black progressive and immersive vocal pop. The 10-track album is a refined take on the current state of progressive trance.

A throwback to the riff-heavy rave sounds of the 90s, the first broadcast from ‘Deep State’ is ‘Stay’. As heard on Above & Beyond’s Anjunabeats Volume 14 mix compilation, this saturnine warehouse cut was a popular set opener this summer. ‘Stay’ features a haunting vocal from British singer Nathalie Shay, who you can also hear on ‘Afterglow’.
