Japanese artist Yunosuke Senoo, aka Lycoriscoris, returns to Anjunadeep with his new album 'Chiyu'.

In recent years, Senoo has built a cult following as part of a new wave of Japanese producers. His signature blend of organic melodies with intricate sound design have won him support from the likes of DJ Koze, Michael Mayer, &ME and BBC Radio 1’s Phil Taggart. A multi-instrumentalist, Senoo has played live alongside the likes of The Field and Moritz Von Oswald at venues including Tokyo’s legendary Dommune. 

Composed throughout 2020, 'Chiyu' documents Senoo’s journey of reflection and recovery.  

“Memories and retrospection are the fundamental concept that inspire my music. For instance, my own artist name plays on the name of the Lycoris flower. In Japan, it's often found near cemeteries, which is of course a dark connotation - however one day when searching in the Language of Flowers (Floriography) I discovered that the word Lycoris also means “I’m looking forward to seeing you again”. 

I realised how this dark flower also hides a beautiful and positive message. I think my music, and my new album ‘Chiyu’, has the same kind of dualism as the Lycoris flower.”

With influences ranging from Boards of Canada and Christian Löffler, Senoo showcases his delicate production style over the 9 tracks of ‘Chiyu’. From the intertwining melodies in ‘Shizumu’ to the polyrhythmic textures of ‘Utsurou', Seeno combines dreamy soundscapes with modern electronica. A skilled photographer, Senoo also provides the imagery for the album artwork shot in his native, Japan.

Senoo’s new album follows the release of his acclaimed LP ‘Flight’, released on Anjunadeep in 2018. Positioning in the top 5 Electronic albums on iTunes, 'Flight' gained support on tastemaker stations including BBC Radio 1, KEXP and NTS Radio as well as international press support.

On 13th December 2021, Above & Beyond were on top of the world. Or, as high as you can get with a whole bunch of electronic equipment that needs to be carried up 708 steps to a summit 656 feet above sea level. The two time Grammy nominated London-based trio were performing on the summit of the Rock of Guatapé at La Piedra del Peñol Guatapé in Colombia, in a performance for live streaming platform Cercle.

The opening track was ‘Morning In Deira’. Not only was the rippling piano instrumental – a near-six-minute quiet-is-the-new-loud anthem – a freshly written composition from a beloved band, it would also be the flagship song for a new (ad)venture under the Anjuna umbrella; the company founded by Above & Beyond in 2000 to release their music and home to two labels, Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Five months on, ‘Morning In Deira’, backed by another new Above & Beyond song ‘Time Heals’, is the launch release of Reflections. The songs deftly set the tone for this new, third label from the Anjunafamily. 

Reflections will be the home to the South London-based organisation’s ambient, downtempo and alternative catalogue, a fresh imprint that represents the “chill” arm of a suite of labels that are as prolific as they are successful.

Songwriters first, producers second, Above & Beyond’s unwavering commitment to their craft has fuelled a career that many electronic artists today might only dream of: four acclaimed studio albums, 14 compilation albums, two ‘acoustic’ albums, a stand-alone album for yoga and meditation and an original motion picture film score - not to mention innumerable club cuts and dance remixes.

Since first meeting, Brighton-based songwriter Elle Limebear and instrumentalist-producer Cephas Azariah quickly found common ground in their artistic passions, developing a friendship and going on to collaborate across various musical avenues.

A storyteller at heart, Elle’s music combines her commanding yet ethereal vocals throughout her songs, telling tales to accompany people on their journey through life’s highs and lows, whilst inspiring them to look beyond their current challenges. With over 175 million streams and a Billboard #1, Elle’s music has taken her across the world, accompanied by Cephas Azariah as part of her touring band. Here, their joint efforts during sound-checks began to effortlessly take shape, noticing their natural synergy and curiosity to merge their distinct worlds in a creative space, their new project came to life.

Indian-born, British composer and producer Cephas Azariah returns to Reflections after a string of highly respected singles and EPs, including an ambient rework of Cubicolor's ‘Machine Keys’, from their debut LP on sister label Anjunadeep. Having scored music for Channel 4, PUMA, Soho House and soundtracked dozens of films, Cephas only began to reveal his own compositions in late 2021, embracing the paradox between traditional classical composition and his own cultural roots, he has amassed an outstanding 10 million streams to date.

Intended to soundtrack the everyday, ordinary and mundane moments of life, the pair utilise Elle’s voice as an instrument, exploring textures, range and gentle tones. Laid over the soft foundation of Cephas’ delicate, emotive compositions of twinkling pianos, synths and soaring strings, arranged to serve as a soundtrack and invite people to slow down, to embrace the beauty in our everyday moments.

Returning to the label, classically trained pianist and electronic producer Alexandra Vysheslavova aka Omfeel, makes a four-track debut with her brand new EP ‘Happiness’, due 26 February on Reflections.

Taking a traditional route into music through a classical music edication, Omfeel studied jazz and composition throughout her formative years, going on to work professionally as a pianist for visiting tourists at the Palace of Labor, a teacher and accompanist in higher educational institutions.

However her slow-burning passions for the rich stylistic diversity of modern music soon became clear, spending days listening to an array of genres from pop, ambient and soul, she felt a craving to compose more diverse piano arrangements with electronic textures. 

Since first appearing on the label in early 2023 with a stunning piano composition ‘Dancing Ego’, Omfeel has amassed over 1.3 million streams to date and featured the track on James Grant & Jody Wisternoff’s prolific annual compilation ‘Anjunadeep 14’. 

Taking it’s title from a journey of personal liberation and inner strength, Omfeel’s latest offering is an inspiring, uplifting and introspective body of work. Composed with empowerment in mind “so that nothing can disturb the harmony within you”, her EP ‘Happiness’ encourages you to embrace the good in every day.

I'm a huge fan of Jon Hopkins and Olafur Arnalds as I'm sure anyone that's listened to a Blue Dot mix knows (https://soundcloud.com/weareallastronauts/sets/blue-dot-series). So when I heard their collaboration, Forever Held, I was compelled to remix it.

It's maybe less of a remix and more wanting to carry on the journey that they start, so this version picks up where their beautiful original leaves us.

A new series of spoken word meditations, set to music from 2019's 'Flow State' album.

Better known for their awe-inspiring live shows and an army of diehard fans, GRAMMY-nominated trio Above & Beyond briefly stepped away from the noisy world of dance music last year, penning 17 original ambient and piano-based compositions. A reaction to the stress of touring life and described by the band as "music tools for yoga, mindfulness and mental fitness", 'Flow State' was picked up by global mental health phenomenon Calm, featured in The Times and NME and had extensive radio play on BBC Radio 1 and Sirius XM. 'Flow State' yoga sessions were hosted in 17 cities around the world in collaboration with New York-based yogi Elena Brower and the DAYBREAKER community,
 
Fast-forward eight months and 'Flow State' music can be found in the world's biggest yoga and mindfulness playlists on Apple Music, Amazon, Deezer and Spotify and has been streamed over 50 million times. The album was accompanied by a spoken word meditation piece from Elena Brower; self-empowering words for troubling times.
 
Today, the band share a new series of Flow State meditations in partnership with Elena Brower and three other inspiring women from around the world. 

Elena Brower has taught yoga and meditation since 1999. Her first book, Art of Attention, has been translated into seven languages; her second book, Practice You: A Journal, is a bestseller. Elena met Above & Beyond on the playa at Burning Man in 2014, where the seed that became Flow State was first planted. Her Practice You Podcast is beloved globally and her practices can be found at Glo.com. 

Hong Kong born ChauKei Ngai has been teaching yoga around the world since 2006. In 2013, she won the prestigious International Yoga Sports Federation Championship, the world’s largest international yoga competition with participants from over 25 countries. In 2018, she joined Above & Beyond for a live 'Flow State' yoga session in Kowloon Park, Hong Kong, attended by over 1000 people. 

After working as a professional model for 10 years, Veronica Blume slowed down, moved to Ibiza, started practising Kundalini Yoga and went on to open her dream yoga studio, The Garage in Barcelona. The Garage closed its doors right before lockdown and Veronica is now focusing on building her community through a new podcast, 'El Camino De Vuelta'.

Hanan Alshehri  hosts yoga events and retreats both Arabic and English languages in Saudi Arabia, India, Bali and Turkey. She created the first legal yoga retreat in Saudi Arabia and is getting ready to launch an online platform for yoga and meditation in the Arabic language.

Flow State Meditations will be released on the 11th of May on Above & Beyond's record label, Anjunabeats.
