French-Canadian producer and live act Christophe Dubé, aka CRi, is a dance music star in the making. 2020 saw the release of his acclaimed debut LP ‘Juvenile’, which won resounding praise from Clash, NME and DJ Mag, and has racked up over seven million streams to date. Following A-list remixes from Gerd Janson, DJ BORING, Jean-Michel Blais and Icarus, CRi now shares the complete ‘Juvenile (Remixed)’ LP, with fresh offerings from Studio Barnhus label boss Kornél Kovács, Chinese composer and DJ, Yu Su, US producer Byron The Aquarius, newcomer Kotastu and a new rework from CRi himself.

With remixes for Pet Shop Boys, George Fitzgerald and HONNE in his repertoire, legendary Swedish producer Kornél Kovács makes his debut appearance on the label, working his magic on standout LP single ‘Runaway’. With highly-regarded originals on Ninja Tune's Technicolour and a critically-acclaimed debut LP 'Yellow River Blue' under her belt, Kaifeng-born, Vancouver-based producer Yu Su joins the label. Her leftfield, dream-like rework of 'Love Spirit' feat. Sophia Bel comes after a career-affirming few years, and plaudits from Pitchfork and Resident Advisor.

Alabama-based deep house aficionado Byron The Aquarius follows on from remixes for electronic favourites Session Victim and Folamour, providing our second new take on ‘Runaway’. Completing the package, CRi shares his own club revision of LP hit ‘From Me’ feat. Bernache, before rounding off with exciting newcomer, British producer Kotatsu, who offers up an emotionally-charged remix of fan favourite ‘Never Really Get There’ feat. Jesse Mac Cormack.

On 13th December 2021, Above & Beyond were on top of the world. Or, as high as you can get with a whole bunch of electronic equipment that needs to be carried up 708 steps to a summit 656 feet above sea level. The two time Grammy nominated London-based trio were performing on the summit of the Rock of Guatapé at La Piedra del Peñol Guatapé in Colombia, in a performance for live streaming platform Cercle.

The opening track was ‘Morning In Deira’. Not only was the rippling piano instrumental – a near-six-minute quiet-is-the-new-loud anthem – a freshly written composition from a beloved band, it would also be the flagship song for a new (ad)venture under the Anjuna umbrella; the company founded by Above & Beyond in 2000 to release their music and home to two labels, Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep.

Five months on, ‘Morning In Deira’, backed by another new Above & Beyond song ‘Time Heals’, is the launch release of Reflections. The songs deftly set the tone for this new, third label from the Anjunafamily. 

Reflections will be the home to the South London-based organisation’s ambient, downtempo and alternative catalogue, a fresh imprint that represents the “chill” arm of a suite of labels that are as prolific as they are successful.

Songwriters first, producers second, Above & Beyond’s unwavering commitment to their craft has fuelled a career that many electronic artists today might only dream of: four acclaimed studio albums, 14 compilation albums, two ‘acoustic’ albums, a stand-alone album for yoga and meditation and an original motion picture film score - not to mention innumerable club cuts and dance remixes.

‘Shadow Cycle’, the second single lifted from Yotto’s forthcoming debut downtempo album ‘Erased Dreams’, is a stirring piano piece. The looping riffs of ‘Shadow Cycle’, cyclical and pensive, reflect the album’s theme of continuity and act as a reflection of both lockdown and the human experience.

‘Erased Dreams’ is the first full-length and low-tempo album from Helsinki based artist Yotto, out July 11 on Reflections.

The album structure of ‘Erased Dreams’ was inspired by The KLF’s 1990 album Chill Out – a conceptual album written as a sonic journal to document the band’s road trip across America. Yotto says Erased Dreams is structured like a journal, too, and acts as a documentation of his inner workings and sentiments during lockdown. So it makes sense that an over-arching theme is one of repetition and continuity.

There’s a common string tying every track in Erased Dreams together – the same one that ties Yotto’s ambient and club productions. There’s a crispness and simplicity to his style that makes all of his work instantly recognisable and undeniably Yotto.

Yotto is well-known for his thunderous DJ sets and deep, bass-heavy house productions, which across his sparkling career have led to a Billboard #1 LP and official remixes for the likes of Joris Voorn, Gorillaz and Coldplay. ‘Erased Dreams’ may seem like a departure from Yotto’s usual style, but he’s always made music like this. With Reflections, he finally found a home for it.

Club music will always be at the core of Yotto’s work, but his ambient catalogue will no longer sit in the shadows. Together, these parallel forms of expression don’t dilute Yotto’s artistry; they make it even stronger.

‘Erased Dreams’, the first full-length, low-tempo project from Helsinki based artist Yotto.

Aptly regarded as a man of many sounds by Billboard, Yotto’s ‘Erased Dreams’ also marks Reflections’ debut LP release; an 8 track ambient journey, revealing a new side to one of Anjuna’s most illustrious producers. Well-known for his thunderous DJ sets and deep, bass-heavy house productions, ‘Erased Dreams’ may seem like a departure from Yotto’s usual style, but he’s always made music like this. With Reflections, he finally found a home for it.

Throughout his sparkling career, which includes a Billboard #1 LP and remixes of tracks by Joris Voorn, Gorillaz and Coldplay, Yotto has produced ambient music to help him look inward and re-charge his creative battery. But when COVID hit, his inner world took over. “At first, I was being really productive with club music. But then after a while I started making something completely opposite.” Yotto found himself exploring a different form of expression, with no plan other than to create. But when he put the tracks side-by-side in a playlist he recognised a synergy, and the outline of the project began to take shape. The result is more of a continuous soundscape than an album; an ethereal and dreamy experience designed to accompany the listener as they turn inward and drift away. If club music is a form of escape, then this is too – but instead of turning outward, we lose ourselves inward.

The first single is ‘Silhouette’. It’s a melancholy, atmospheric track with hints of ’80s nostalgia and smooth as glass vocals from Sansa. The track conjures up images of vast and endless landscapes; the sense of space enhanced by sparse chord-changes and field recordings of heavy rain. ‘Silhouette’ is so human it feels like an extension of an emotion, and Yotto says the idea came to him like a dream. A sound drifted towards him one day and he caught it by the tail and built on top of it until it became the entity he envisioned. ’It’s slow and steady and it grows. I think the beauty lies in the simplicity of it.”

Club music will always be at the core of Yotto’s work, but his ambient catalogue will no longer sit in the shadows. Together, these parallel forms of expression don’t dilute Yotto’s artistry; they make it even stronger.
