Since launching in early 2016, the Explorations series returns for its fourth outing. Having previously welcomed artists such as Theo Kottis, Tontario, Modd and Luttrell to the label, ‘Anjunadeep Explorations 04’ introduces more new faces to the family.

Previously one-half of production duo Journeyman, Dom Furlonge makes his debut outing under his new Antic alias with EP opener ‘And I Pray’. Dom showcases his own vocals and distinctive production flair on this quirky club cut.

Our second track brings together the Bath-based duo Kotu and Munich’s Sam Goku on ‘Ascension’, blending a subtle rolling bassline with soaring strings and sparse piano to wonderful effect. A much sought after ID from recent Anjunadeep Editions from James Grant and Dom Donnelly.

Next up is emerging German talent Ben Böhmer with ‘Flug & Fall’. Ben fuses organic elements, vocal chanting and warm melodic grooves in this uplifting number.

Closing the EP, Melbourne’s GMJ and Matter debut with throwback progressive gem ‘Earthless’.

Life hasn’t always been easy for Michael Cassette. In a life of sadness, this 80s-inspired electronic producer seeks refuge in his studio; basking in the bright, neon sparkle of retro synths and soaking up the warm embrace of classic analogue grooves.

Since emerging with the huge ‘Shadow’s Movement’ in 2007, he has become a revered force amongst electronic music lovers who yearn for the nostalgic feel-good factor of the 80s. DJs like Eric Prydz, James Zabiela, Laurent Garnier and SOS have all lauded his unique ability to transform past musical memories into moments of contemporary club magic, disco blogs and dance music bibles (Mixmag, DJMagazine and iDJ) have given him glowing reviews, while Anjunadeep continue to celebrate him as their most unique and promising studio talent.

Both reassuringly familiar and assuredly fresh, Michael Cassette’s ‘Temporarity’ is the perfect blend of uplifting 80s sounds and ultra-clean production sensibilities. A complete and cohesive journey, it begins on the progressive cosmic boogie of ‘My Name Is Michael Cassette’ before sweeping us up in the familiar synth-disco bliss of ‘Shadows Movement’. A cover of Miami Vice’s iconic soundtrack ‘Crockett’s Theme’ is like a smooth, sugary shot of Floridan sunshine to the ear, while vocal moments like ‘Through The Windows’ and ‘Nevermore’ touch on the classic 80s tradition of classy synth-pop. 

There are progressive club sounds too in the bittersweet glow of ‘Magneta Sunset’, the uplifting ‘Zeppelin’ and the hypnotic flutters of ‘Kilimanjaro’, while forthcoming single ‘Ghost In The Machine’ – released 22nd November alongside a Spirit Catcher remix – is another Michael Cassette classic in the making. Showing off the producer’s versatility, the album closes on some sombre Tangerine Dream-esque electronica in the emotive ‘Funeralia’. 

Like the distant memories that inspire them, each track unravels more and more the deeper it progresses. Progressively shifting melodies dance across the speakers. Firmly established as a bedrock of the progressive and melodic techno sound, Anjunadeep has scaled new heights in the past 12 months with support coming from acts as disparate as UK techno baron Dave Clarke, Laurent Garnier, Eric Prydz, Groove Armada’s Andy Cato and stadium-filler Deadmau5 – the latter commenting on Michael Cassette’s Anjunadeep anthem ‘Ghost In The Machine’: “I haven’t felt this good listening to a piece of music since Eric Prydz’s ‘Melo’ -10/10”. 

Showcasing the full spectrum of the label’s diverse sounds, Anjunadeep 03 is the latest annual label collection and features 29 largely unreleased tracks that range from deep, dark and hypnotic techno sounds to upbeat, uplifting electronic house grooves.

Beginning on the lush techno of Stephen J Kroos’ ‘Micrsh’ and the beautifully brooding deep house chasms of Martin Roth’s ‘Deep Style’, Anjunadeep A&R James Grant’s CD1 mix continues to build through melodic techno and progressive textures with tracks and remixes from Underworld, Spooky, Michael Cassette, Andrew Bayer and promising newcomer, Soundprank.

On the second disc, Anjunadeep mainstay Jaytech shows off a slightly more upbeat and uplifting electronic house sound that touches on nu disco, electro and more classic house grooves and includes Jaytech’s own forthcoming anthem ‘Djembe’, as well as deep audio offerings from Solarity, Dinka, PROFF, Interplay and Maor Levi. 

To celebrate the release of this flagship release, Anjunadeep is holding a brace of transatlantic launch parties. The first will take place at the world-famous Ministry of Sound on Friday 4th February, where Jaytech and James Grant will be perform a 4 hour back2back set for The Gallery.  

The second will be at Miami’s Ice Palace on March 24 where Anjunadeep will be hosting the second room of Above & Beyond’s annual Anjunabeats In Miami party. For further album tour dates, check  www.jaytechmusic.com.
