Alan Fitzpatrick has had a remarkable career to date. Few artists can claim to have headlined Berghain and also had a hit on daytime BBC Radio 1, but then there aren't many artists like Alan Fitzpatrick.

One of the most popular techno DJs in the world, he has rubbed shoulders with the likes of Carl Cox and Adam Beyer for the best part of a decade, performing at the world's biggest clubs and festivals.

Known primarily for his raw hard-edged sound, Alan has developed into one of dance music's most versatile producers, equally at home putting out techno bangers on Drumcode as he is making disco-infused house anthems, or experimental electronica under his 3STRANGE alias, not to mention his impressive range of collaborations (including CamelPhat, Skream and Jamie Jones).

A proven global headliner and founder of one of the UK's most exciting new dance imprints 'We Are The Brave', Alan now joins forces with the acclaimed UK label Anjunadeep for his most ambitious release to date, and his first album in ten years - 'Machine Therapy'.

The name derives from the time Alan has spent in his home studio, with the hardware he has collected over the years, the machines offering a sort of therapy during the pandemic.

The time I had in the studio was like a therapy session. Particularly with the pandemic, not knowing what was happening, what the future might look like, what might happen in the scene; being able to get into the studio with no time constraints and just really pour my heart into making music really helped get me through the last year and definitely help keep my mental health in check. adds Alan.

The album sees Alan pull his wide-ranging sounds together into one, coherent project, combining techno, house, breaks and ambient. Drawing on the early days of rave for inspiration, along with the machinery, Alan has fused sci-fi sonics with emotional songs and dystopian samples, which alongside the artwork, transport the listener to his cinematic musical world.

The album sees Alan pull his wide-ranging sounds together into one, coherent project, combining techno, house, breaks and ambient. Anjunadeep welcomes Alan Fitzpatrick to the fray for his debut release on the soul-brimming imprint. Alan Fitzpatrick’s decorated release catalogue and steadfast come up outshone the underground techno diaspora, placing him firmly on the world stage as a headline artist garnering international reverence and undeniable industry support. 

A new sound has emerged from Fitzpatrick’s sonic palette; broader in its range and rooted in experiments with more soulful or deeper influences from across electronica, breakbeat, dub and house. A sound that sits comfortably among the rich, depth-charged records being released by the aforementioned Anjunadeep. 

‘Warning Signs’ is the collaborative effort of both Fitzpatrick and Lawrence Hart, the pair’s debut with the label is a twisting house menagerie with dazzling and thought-provoking sound design. The arrangement rises with groove-stricken drum programming and interweaving atmospheric details, sub-atomic bassline stabs walk hauntingly beneath the composition’s main body.

Every element fluently communicating with its counterpart is what makes this track truly special, appearing to breathe and fluctuate as the melody opens up alongside a flurry of hi-hats and hypnotic vocal hooks. “I first heard Lawrence’s voice in 2015, when I received the promo of ‘Call It Love’ by George Fitzgerald. I was immediately blown away” says Alan.

Moonlit arpeggiators will carry the record into a crescendo of paradisiacal strings and warping low end frequencies, the pair have cultivated the perfect antidote to a year without clubland as we wish our progression back to normal life can be as starry-eyed as this arrangement.

Alongside the announce, Alan shares the first LP single. ‘W.A.I.S.T.D’ combines thunder-imbued kick drums with the sombre vocal tones of featured artist Kele, lead singer of previous U.K. chart toppers Bloc Party, the jovial introduction of breakbeat rhythm sections and glowing chord progressions is fanatically overshadowed by a dazzling sawtooth bassline, dragging this kaleidoscope arrangement through dark depths and galvanising highs. Kele has released several solo releases, with his vocal contributions finding their home on tracks with the likes of Sub Focus, Tiesto and The Chemical Brothers.

On Reinier Zonneveld’s remix, the Filth On Acid boss warps Topping’s vocals from ‘Planet Session’ into a pounding track complete with ravey stabs and grinding low-end. We Are The Brave front man Alan Fitzpatrick provides the labels next release with a typically incendiary two-tracker. Delving deep into his record collection for inspiration, the result is a brace of distinct, ear-catching cuts that tip a hat to by-gone times in rave culture and have returned big reactions from contemporary crowds all summer. 

The aptly titled “They All Called ‘Em Garys” combines droning hardcore hoovers and power piano with Fitzpatrick’s trademark heavy tech funk. While “Rhino” adopts a slung-back groove of resounding bass and tense pads overlaid with a knockout melody that bubbles away before unleashing its full chord progression through an unashamedly epic breakdown.

We Are The Brave launched 2019 with Alan’s biggest release to date, the gargantuan 7 track ’11:11 The Awakening’ truly laying the path for a mega year ahead. With the House Party tour now firmly an annual fixture for the label, its family of artists have steadily been growing with some key releases along the way from Darius Syrossian, Reset Robot, Boxia, Gary Beck, Skream and Alan’s collab with Sasha.

Ronnie Spiteri has been one of those artists who has played many of the showcases over in the UK, and alongside Alan in Ibiza last summer for Do Not Sleep as one of their residents. ‘Talking To Nature’ marks his second EP on the label and also We Are The Brave’s 30th release!

The title track kicks things off on this EP with punctuating kick drum and scintillating hats. The track has a house inspired piano hook which makes its groove nostalgic and infectious. A mega big room breakdown hits just right, no doubt making this a festival hit.

“The EP is definitely one of my strongest releases to date – Talking To Nature was inspired by a Richy Ahmed track that I heard Nick Curly play at Time Warp; it was one of those inspirational moments that turns into a productive studio session and with Danny Howard premiering it on his BBC Radio 1 ADE special, it definitely came out as I hoped it would” says Ronnie

‘Spirits’ brings a pulsating low end with warmth and energy, whilst synth stabs boom alongside the sexy vocal hits, with a truly atmospheric breakdown. ‘Trust Yourself’ is a strong yet subdued track based around a really nice hook, some spoken style vocals and a heavy kick drum.

As individual artists our styles are fairly different, and that always sparks some magic in the studio. This time round it was techno magic, in the form of 'Kona' and 'Liberation'"
