Back in the groove after the Bank Holiday and our first fresh premiere of the week comes from MTA Records. The release is a debut EP and a track called 'Forever' from one of their latest signings, the Brighton based producer Braxton.

Braxton quickly caught the attention from BBC Radio 1 tastemakers Pete Tong, MistaJam, Danny Howard as well as international DJs from debut release. He’s generated heat online with his remixes for the likes of Kyla La Grange, Blonde, Chloe Black, Tourist and Grades which have amassed over half a million plays across Soundcloud and YouTube in less than a year.

Enjoying recent support from Solomun, MK, MANIK and Kerri Chandler, New York's Beckwith is fast establishing himself as a one to watch in deep house circles - hooking props from both the grand masters of the sound and those pushing it forward in 2013.

Delivering another classy and considered three track EP, Beckwith's lead here - "Seven Olives" - brings together deep grooves, modern garage vibes and a musicality that Anjunadeep is renowned for.

A unique hybrid, "End Of Brooklyn" blends an unravelling progressive vibe and melodic textures with an infectious deep house groove. 

Closing the EP in style, "Think Wise" is a cheeky garage bouncer that nods to legends like Todd Edwards whilst again adding its own unique melodic flavour.

Beckwith - Think Wise

Chi Thanh has been active as a producer and DJ in the international club and dance music scene for a while (Top10 best-selling Beatport Deep House artist 2014) and has performed alongside artists such as: Booka Shade, Tale Of Us, Radioslave, Butch, Claptone, Mark Knight, Florian Kruse etc…

Moreover, Chi Thanh has remixed international artists such as: Booka Shade (“Body Language”), Lana Del Rey, The Do, Metronomy, The Disciples, 2Raumwohnung, Robot Koch… and his work has been featured on blogs such as: Deep House Amsterdam, Clash Mag, Pulse, DJ Times, Data Transmission, Resident Advisor…

Chi Thanh regularly releases on the label “Blaufield Music” of the electronic music legends Booka Shade and his music has also been featured on BBC Radio 1 UK by Pete Tong and Kolsch.
In addition Chi Thanh had a Beatport Club Hit (“Reach - Fluid EP”) with his collaboration with Robot Koch (Monkeytown Berlin-Moderat) on the acclaimed label DIYnamic Music (Solomun) last year.
He recently also remixed Robosonic (“For The People”/Armada Subjekt) and also remixed Booka Shade’s new single “Polar Lights” alongside John Monkman.

For his new single Chi Thanh teams up with vocalist Ben McCrary from Los Angeles. Ben comes from a very musical family with an extensive music history (see The McCrarys: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_McCrarys ) and also counts the legendary singer Chaka Khan as his aunt.

They wrote the song “What’s A Man To Do” together in LA last year already but both feel that it is now more relevant than ever and feel like it’s the right moment to release their collaboration.

Lyrically the song deals with hardship, loss, pain and desperation and the protagonist feels helpless and lonely…. But just like in the “classic Blues-song” tradition the song still aims to give hope, a voice to the voiceless and to share solace so people can still find shelter and peace during hard times….

Musically the song starts with acoustic guitars until the deep house groove sets in and some percussion loops start to shimmer around. The emotional vocal starts telling the story and the warm and melancholic feeling takes over. The hookline “What’s A Man To Do” keeps repeating and in the breakdown the mood becomes empty and a sad vocal choir begins to chant until the climax in the end with added pads and strings, where the singer Ben exclaims all his pain and frustration.
