“Ethereal” (Billboard) electronic producer Ben Böhmer releases his sophomore album Begin Again via Anjunadeep, along with single “Home” ft. folk duo JONAH. Böhmer recently won Best Live [Streamed] Act Award at the AIMs in what has been arguably the most competitive year for live streamed performances, beating out artists including Arlo Parks and beabadoobee. This year, Ben has also been named Spotify’s #1 fastest growing electronic artist with over 60 million streams. Vogue UA called Ben “the new star of the world electronic scene” while he has garnered support from the likes of Pete Tong at BBC Radio 1 and Anna Lunoe at DanceXL Radio on Apple Music 1.
The album release follows singles “Beyond Beliefs,” “Escalate” ft. JONAH, “Erase” ft. lau.ra and “A Matter of Time.” On “Home,” Böhmer says it’s about “having a deep connection to the one you love the most, your soulmate. No matter where in the world you are, they still feel close to you through an unwavering bond. Nothing could ever change that.”

Böhmer recently announced his European album tour, selling out a string of shows within 24 hours and adding a second show in his hometown of Berlin to go with flagship shows at the iconic Roundhouse London and Melkweg Amsterdam. He has also partnered with Amazon Music for a special livestream broadcast from the prestigious König Galerie in Berlin on 9/26. Featuring all new live production designed by the team behind James Blake and Tale Of Us live shows, the set will be broadcast via Böhmer’s YouTube channel.

Begin Again was inspired and written while Böhmer and his wife were separated on opposite sides of the globe for nine months due to the global travel ban. The album sees him perfectly portray the longing and uncertainty he and many of us experienced during this time.

The sun was lighting up the view out my window and I was hooked on the melody and beat I had going on. A couple of beers created a sudden urge to try singing a vocal line on the tune. Suddenly I was listening to 'Me & You'. It's one of my favourites on the album.

Feels incredible to be releasing my Debut Album, it's been such a long process and such a long challenge it kind of felt like this day would never come, but it did.

Conceptually the album is about romanticizing a naive world view. That naiveness and ignorance is something to be cherished. There's something really beautiful about the perfect worldview you have as a kid, that the world is harmless, beautiful and good. The more you learn and experience though the more you realise everything isn't perfect. So the less you know the more beautiful it is, it's the things we haven't done, the places we don't know, that have this unquestionable beauty to it. it's this world i'm trying to mirror with my album, the one that stays in your imagination.

Musically i knew i wanted to do a sonic representation of the concept, blending worldly sounds with small bedroom type samples and soundscapes. I really loved the idea of those two polarizing things being the two main factors that would lay the ground for the album.

Ahead of its release on August 20, Ray has handed over 'Room 1.5' for a premiere.

After a year-long hiatus, Cubicolor proudly announce their newest single ‘Points Beyond’, lifted from their upcoming sophomore album ‘Hardly A Day, Hardly A Night’. “We first met when Shallou supported me on my first American tour and what I saw on stage was absolutely crazy. Joe is a passionate guy and a nice human being and we became friends. I came to the US in April 2019 for a change of scenery to get some inspiration for my new music and I invited Joe to come to where I was staying to work on some music together. We spent hours listening to a lot of different stuff and tried lots of different things, but it wasn’t until a few months later that we had finally found the perfect tune to collaborate on. Breakout star Berlin-based producer and live artist Ben Böhmer returns to Anjunadeep after a landmark 18 months. Amassing over 50 million streams, picking up BBC Radio 1 support from Annie Mac and Pete Tong, including an ‘Essential New Tune’, being featured in Billboard’s ‘Ones To Watch’ and most notably releasing his acclaimed debut studio album ‘Breathing’ last November. This year Ben released the ‘Breathing’ (Remixed) LP featuring reworks from dance music royalty like Boris Brechja and Gui Boratto, along with his first-ever live album, ‘Live from Printworks London’. He now follows with the statement three-track ‘Phases EP’.

A set of exuberant and unapologetically club-ready tracks, the ‘Phases EP’ is an almost nostalgic evocation of a more innocent and celebratory time. ’With the lockdowns and club closures still in effect across the world, the ‘Phases EP’ is a kind of weird reminder of a lost world, of what once was.’ Böhmer wistfully reminisces, ‘I made the music to sound great in big clubs to a big crowd late at night. In fact, I debuted two of the tracks in my Printworks set last year. Now that’s all gone, and that time seems a world away.’

Title track ‘Phases’, a highly sort after ID throughout Ben’s sets over the past 12 months sees him team up with Anjuna mainstay Spencer Brown for their second collaborative production. The EP follows with a pair of certified dance floor moments, ‘Motherboard’ adrift with vocal loops and driving bass and ‘Zeit & Raum’ a staccato brass-laden number.

With a passion for abstract art and photography, Böhmer is using a piece by artist Tyrone Williams for the cover art of the ‘Phases EP’. Says Böhmer, ‘whenever I travel, I love to visit museums. But there’s no travel now, and all the museums are closed. It’s a different world.’ 

When he’s not working on music in his newly-built home studio, Böhmer currently occupies himself with games of chess and long walks through a nearby forest, living the quiet existence that we all have been reduced to, as we wait for the world to bloom again.
