@BasicRhythm returns with the heat! Opening the single is Midnight, a bubbling roller reminiscent of late 90s Full Cycle / DJ Die. This one is aimed straight at the darkest corners of the dance floor with its noire jazz vibe. This is followed by Fire. Starting with a classic vocal sample, into a rolling bass wobble before the drums drop in and the place erupts. This is a Rhythm Killer! It’s time to dust off your dancing shoes and head to the dance!

The Shard: A colossal feat in engineering, savagely piercing the London skyline with zero
f**ks.
Shard View: An uncompromising moment in Boylan’s bass engineering, piercing the London
soundscape with even fewer f**ks.
It’s 2025. We’ve officially moved a second closer to extinction and Boylan’s wasting no time.
After years of releasing noxious missives on the most influential likes of FWD>>, Artikal,
Deep Dark & Dangerous, Sentry and Mean Streets, he finally launches his own label - Shard
View.
A brand new vehicle for the potent strain of ice cold apocalyptic breakbeat he and his closest
allies are currently making, Shard View is inspired by the vista he and the likes of Slimzee,
Trends, D.O.K, U.S.F and Youngsta see every time they’re cooking up a darkness in his
Peckham studio.
Coated in visual armor from Simon Oil Gang, Shard View is London, Detroit and Berlin
wrapped up in one. It’s bass, it’s techno, it’s tribal, it’s No U-Turn, it’s Virus, it’s Horsepower,
it’s warehouse raves. It’s timeless. And it starts with ‘Tunnel’, an extensive 10 track trip into
instrumental, full physical, heavily percussive unapologetic breakbeat music. Boylan is the
main consistency throughout but all the above-mentioned names are involved and always
will be. Like the great collectives of past bass epochs, the energy here is molten as the
friends inspire each other with this fresh take on a classic sound.
Two more EPs should follow later this year. And as the world continues to ramp up the
turbulence, so will Shard View. This is not a drill.

A true dance music pioneer, Tom Middleton has built up an impressive back catalogue over the past two decades including collaborations with the likes of Aphex Twin, Josh Wink, Adam Freehand, and notably with Mark Pritchard as Global Communication. That along with his solo prowess and memorable remixes for Kerri Chandler, Orbital, Ennio Morricone, Jon Hopkins and more have marked him out as one of the scene’s most respected artists.

2016 sees the return of Tom Middleton to Anjunadeep with a 4 track re-imagining of his 2015 club hit “HEVA”. The package features reworks from two diverse talents, Vincenzo and Geode, plus additional mixes from Tom himself including a stunning ambient production and 2-Step remix.

Both of Tom’s own EP contributions are trademark examples of his deft skill and ingenuity when reworking his own productions. Two diverse takes on an Anjuna anthem.

Next up, we welcome upcoming UK producer and Middleton’s own tipped talent, Geode, with his garage infused club roller, awash with wavering synths and quirky percussive licks.

Anjunadeep legend Vincenzo returns the favour following Tom’s much-loved 2012 remix of ’Sometimes Saturday', offering up a signature melodic rework, complimenting the spacey atmospherics of the original with a hallmark deep rolling bassline. Debuted by James Grant during his live set at Anjunadeep Miami, Vincenzo's deep house cut has already begun the rounds, a peak summer gem.

Tom Middleton - HEVA (Geode Remix)

An untitled dub that was only featured once in the Kryptic Minds studio mix for Blackdown - it's famed for its different deep and emotional style, and of course for its sample, "They Don't Tell The Truth". 
This track was discussed quite a bit roughly 10 years ago on the old DSF at the time the studio mix came out, as it had a much different approach to dubstep with its smoother style as opposed to the dark and menacing dungeon at the time. This track sadly never saw a release.

As a label, Rarefied have striven to provide an outlet for artists to express their talent without restriction. Shades of Violet is the apotheosis of this mission.

A change of format and flavour, this cassette crosses the boundaries of the dancefloor. A plethora of sonic expressions are on offer, from Trap infused Hip Hop to submerged Techno soundscapes.
An exercise in originality from reel to reel, this is not one to sleep on.
