Anjunadeep Explorations celebrates its one-year anniversary with the release of Anjunadeep Explorations Vol. 1, the first instalment in a new annual compilation series.

Launched in July 2024, Anjunadeep’s newest imprint has quickly established itself as a home for boundary-pushing sounds across the deep and melodic spectrum, from progressive house and breakbeat to deep house and electronica. In the label’s first year, nearly 40 artists have released music ranging from exciting newcomers to seasoned industry names.

Maty Owl, Parallel Voices, Klangsberg, and LAR have all returned for follow-up EPs, while artists such as Chris Luno, Quivver, MXV, and IPeiqi trace their beginnings to Anjunadeep’s original 25-part Explorations VA series, which helped launch the careers of artists like Ben Böhmer, Rezident and CRi. Making their first Anjunadeep appearances of any sort, we had the likes of Keanler Reiny, Mike Griego, artemis orion, and Mike Rish join us. Anjunadeep Explorations has firmly made its mark through editorial support in DJ Mag, Mixmag, and Decoded, a SiriusXM Chill takeover, two vinyl samplers, and a debut label showcase at London’s 93 Feet East in April 2025.

The two tracks on this EP possess deep grooves, but also flex a fair amount of melodic muscle. They liken back to the sound Yoshitoshi became well known for in its infancy. The Sword centers around some tribal percussion and carefully woven melodic ideas, but the tracks focus is decidedly on low end. A burly, assertive bass gives the mix a driving character suited for late nights. At time it feels like a modern take on progressive house from another era. All Of A Sudden is more or less an extension of the first track, giving the EP defined consistency. Its a delicately arranged and straightforward house feeler; the meat coming from a multitude of interlaced chords and melodies maneuvering carefully over more tribal percussion and a monstrous kick. The mission here is to inspire awe and wonder in dancers, and Seikaly delivers on both accounts.

Parker + Barrow (@weareparkerandbarrow) is a production and live performance duo comprised of Swedish native and former Forever Kid member, Joakim Bjarke, and Los Angeles born and bred video artist and former turntablist, Caity Croft.

The duo has played festivals such as Burning Man and EDC and held several residencies around LA. After spending over a year in the studio producing full-time, the duo has created several EP/LPs worth of music ready for release. In each of their original productions, the duo aims to conjure a specific moment - in time, place, texture, and/or feeling- and makes a point of not sticking to a specific genre in their effort to do so.

This years first podcast needed a bit more time than expected, though i guess the time was worth to wait. I got 5 songs of mine in this, 4 of them unreleased and a special live version of Calendula which i originally produced with Microtrauma. Also in here is the premiere of the upcoming main track "Sail" taken from the next Klangwelt release by 1979 and the premiere of We are all Astronauts "This Too Shall Pass". Berlin’s Ryan Davis has carved out a niche all of his own over the past 10 years, releasing exquisite melodic techno and electronica on revered labels Bedrock, Traum, and his own Klangwelt label. Along the way he’s been championed by Sasha, Stephan Bodzin, Hernan Cattaneo and John Digweed, and collaborated with Max Cooper and Applescal. The ‘From Within EP’ marks his first original release on Anjunadeep following memorable remixes of Andrew Bayer and Olafur Arnalds.

The cinematic ‘Paper Rockets’ begins the EP in subtle fashion, showcasing Ryan’s talent for intricate production and mellow moods. ‘Brun’ a stand-out from last year’s ‘Anjunadeep 07’ compilation has the hallmarks of an Anjunadeep classic, combining club-ready sounds with emotional melodies that tug at the heart-strings.

‘Crawne’ takes things deeper and darker, blending a chugging slo-mo groove with spacey atmospherics. Ryan takes things full techno on ‘Undine’ a peak-time cut laced with dystopian soundscape and driving drums. We return to cinematic ambience on EP closer ‘Beyar’, a stunning slice of deft melodies and vivid celestial samples.
