Immersed in the world’s rich dance music culture from an early age, producer Guy J has become an intrinsic part of a forward thinking generation of electronic artists. 

The last decade has seen Guy J climb underground music’s illustrious ladder, enthralling the minds of music lovers across the globe with his eclectic perception of how electronic music should be constructed. With a clear vision and much-envied trait of being able to create a contrasting variety of genres, along with gracing the globes renowned clubs and festival, Guy J now proudly announces his forthcoming album on John Digweed’s Bedrock records, titled The Trees, The Sea & The Sun.

An artist that carries a wealth of experience within music, Guy J first caught the attention of music heavy weights with his 2007 release ‘Save Me’, making the dance music community rightfully stand up and take notice of the young producers fresh new sound. With international support from John Digweed, who has pioneered his various projects, The Trees, The Sea & The Sun is the culmination of all the esteemed sounds that Guy J holds so dearly to himself, merged into a listening experience like no other.

An intrinsic component of John Digweed’s Bedrock family, Guy J’s previous two LP’s ‘Esperanza’ and ‘1000 Words’ received an array of solid reviews from leading publications within the music industry. Atmospheric melodies were married with minimal techno percussion in a never before heard fusion of left field sounds. Returning to Bedrock with his third LP, The Trees, The Sea & The Sun elevates the trademark sound that has made him the revered artist that stands before us today.

Drawing inspiration from a vast collection of influences, this release perfectly embraces and incorporates Guy’s mesmeric production style weaving through wonderfully programmed drum rhythms in ‘Equinox’ and ‘Live Another Day’s’ flurrying synth arrangements. Demonstrating his versatility as not only a producer, but as an electronic artist, the likes of ‘Mad Sine’ and ‘Paradox’ showcase the ability to create intricately crafted experimental productions. 

A devoted producer, Guy J has never neglected the importance of performing at venues across the world; a regular at the likes of Space Ibiza and Verboten New York, club goers have become enchanted by his signature and never before experience blend of house and techno. Never straying too far away from this element of his career, ‘Opera’ and ‘Nirvana’ are two tracks that are certain to sound out through speakers of clubs and festival across the globe.

A vast melting pot of sonic exploration showcasing the extensive creative talent of Guy J compiled into two CD’s of the highest caliber; The Trees, The Sea & The Sun reiterates Guy J’s status as one of dance music’s most inspired, driven and talented artists.

Anjunadeep is an independent record label based in London. Having begun life as an outlet for the deeper and more progressive end of trance trio Above & Beyond's DJ sets, the label has now grown into one of the dance music world’s most respected imprints for deep, melodic house music.

Readers of Deep House London will be no strangers to the prolific output of Anjunadeep, as in the last year alone we have showcased releases and artists like Clarian, Matthias Vogt, and Eli & Fur (whose "California Love" EP featured on our best of November 2015 list), to much acclaim. Aside from those aformentioned, Anjunadeep has also provided a platform for the diverse range of artists such as Yotto, Tom Middleton, Way Out West, Martin Roth, Vincenzo, Lancelot, 16 Bit Loltias, Moon Boots, and Ryan Davis, with the likes of Dusky, Vincenzo, Lane 8 and Michael Cassette, releasing full length albums on the platform.

Dedicated to deep and emotive electronic music, Anjunadeep holds a unique position in the modern dance music world, championing music heard on the huge stages of Coachella and EDC, Nocturnal Wonderland, to Oasis Festival to the intimate dancefloors of Europe and everywhere in between. Over its 10 years and 250 releases, the sound of the label has evolved, but while the BPMs may have slowed, the mission statement of Anjunadeep has remained the same - to release timeless soulful and melodic electronic music.

With that, we continue our new series here, and in conjunction with Deep House Amsterdam, highlighting some of our favourite labels from around the world, we thought we would catch up with label co-founder (and compiler of the annual, and highly successful, Anjunadeep compilation series) James Grant and get the scoop on all things Anjunadeep. Here, you will find information on the label’s history, ethos, releases and future. As you can probably tell by know, we are asking each respective label owner the same questions. With this approach, we hope these showcases will be as educational and informative (for all you aspiring label heads out there) as they are entertaining.

OCULA has quite rapidly become one of the premiere names in house music. After a rapid rise to prominence with back-to-back releases on deadmau5’s epochal label mau5trap, the Staffordshire, UK native has quickly made a mark with his blend of moving, organic melodic house. He draws inspiration from the iconic soundscapes and sonic innovations of Jon Hopkins and the crisp, melodic nostalgia of deadmau5, amongst others. His intimately addictive sound quickly became a mainstay at Lane 8’s imprint This Never Happened. Official remixes for Gabriel and Dresden, Le Youth and Lane 8 himself are amongst the many staples of OCULA’s expansive discography, which includes showcases on iconic labels Future Classic, Anjunabeats and Colorize. 

His signature sound is underpinned by dancefloor-staple synthwork but there’s so much more to his work than meets the ear. His artistic maturity shines through his songwriting - showcasing distinctively organic inspirations and a warm, skilful style. He embraces glorious textural expanses and a personal, soulful touch – demonstrated with class and efficacy on his viral “Summit” EP in 2020. 

He crafts a captivating mix of lush soundscapes and intricately woven melodies, with a discography that shows an emotional depth that is distinctive amongst his contemporaries. From jubilant to melancholic, brooding to hopeful, OCULA’s brand of emotive alchemy has earned him widespread acclaim across the world of dance music. Above and Beyond, Camelphat and Radio 1's Phil Taggart are amongst the plethora of icons to have thrown their weight behind OCULA, and his name has been popping up on tentative touring schedules rapidly.
