Since i first heard Vivaldi´s Spring in the version of Max i fell in love with his interpretation so deeply, i always knew i had to use it at least once in one of my podcasts im compiling once in a while. It got so stuck in my head that one night last summer i dreamt about listening a new electronic version in a fictional place and i remember i really wanted to know who was the artist that did another take on this beautiful piece. After i woke up i noticed nobody yet had done it and it became clear that it would be myself doing the new version. Vivaldi´s 4 seasons is something special since i was a young child as it is the vinyl we listened to every christmas while we were waiting to receive our gifts. Now i feel the circle closes after all these years and i hope my version is doing the in this case 2 Originals a favour and giving these masterpieces another modern twist people can enjoy and get in touch with classical & electronic music.

Presenting the third instalment of our new ‘Reflections Revisited’ series is Anjuna legend Ryan Davis, who presents a stunning rework of GRAMMY-nominated producer Andrew Bayer’s ‘Hold On To You’ featuring Ane Brun, lifted from his critically acclaimed 2018 LP ‘In My Last Life’.

With over 14 million streams to date, Bayer’s third album saw him coined “a master of crafting superbly emotive electronica” - CLASH. With an abundance of support from the likes of Billboard, Forbes, KCRW and Elton John’s Rocket Hour, album fan favourite ‘Hold On To You’ features the stunning vocals of chart topping Norwegian singer-songwriter Ane Brun.

Since his breakthrough into the Anjuna-sphere via his remix of Andrew Bayer’s 2013 ‘Gaffs Eulogy’, Ryan Davis has delved into the world of both melodic and downtempo compositions over the years. Delivering his first 12-track cinematic LP on Reflections last year ’Through The Mirror Glass’, inspired by the soundtracks he grew up listening to.

Ryan creates a soothing rework of the Anjuna classic; blending his signature style of field recordings and neo-classical elements.

DJ & producer Dave DK has been making waves in the electronic music scene for a couple of years now. Since the early 90's he was fascinated by the upcoming techno movement, which eventually led to his own active initiation. 1995 was the starting point for the then 17 year old. Together with a longtime friend, Dave produced his first tracks and was involved in the organization of underground techno and house partys, constantly trying to spread and push new electronic music.
Searching for new electronic sounds every day and having honed his skills as a producer in his chosen home Berlin, Dave released his first record on Müller Records in 1998. His DJ activities had been highly pushed since that time. In 1999 he became a resident DJ at Tresor/Globus club in Berlin, later on also at the legendary Panorama Bar. Beside his remix productions for Beroshima and Skiebäck he released records on raum...musik., Decore, Lifetime Music and Cadeaux.
As Dave is an open minded person who resents musical limits, he doesn’t want to be reduced to one style. His sound simply is the result of different styles that have influenced him throughout the years. "I have a passion for the wide range between house and techno as well as pop music and dancefloor stuff of the early 90's", says Dave.
Though he’s elegantly juggling a variety of electronic music to create his own style, in his tracks he often combines tragic melodies with kickin’ grooves that transform your body into a twisting stampede of electricity, with trademark swing and warm funk.
The year 2000 can be marked as the first highlight in his career: his debut album "sensory overload“ had been released on Müller Records and there were musical excursions on Cologne’s Television label as well as on the Barcelona based Regular label. Dave is now currently recording for Moodmusic and also on Playhouse (a collaboration with Holger „Smash TV“ Zilske) which brings him even closer to his idea of electronic house tunes.
In November 2007 Dave released his second album „Lights and Colours“ on Moodmusic.
For Dave DK, music is a model of living in which he’s able to enhance his skills in order to realise his vision of modern electronic club and home entertainment – expect more fantastic music in the very near future. Late 2010 saw the release of Dave’s first Mix CD on Moodmusic called RETAKE ONE.
In 2013 Dave has been signed to Kompakt, releasing his first 12“ on the Cologne based imprint in July.

Commencing the 10th anniversary celebrations with a free compilation entitled Erased Tapes Collection VIII, Erased Tapes also welcomes the iconic Penguin Cafe to the roster amongst tracks from new signing Daniel Brandt (of Brandt Brauer Frick) and Peter Broderick’s duo project Allred & Broderick. It also includes recent compositions by Rival Consoles, A Winged Victory For The Sullen, Ben Lukas Boysen, Douglas Dare and Immix Ensemble & Vessel, as well as a previously unreleased soundcloud.com/ryan-davis remix of Erased Tapes stalwarts Ólafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm which was recently favoured by Aphex Twin and an exclusive edit of Woodkid & Nils Frahm’s score for JR’s Ellis, with spoken words by Robert De Niro.

The Story before: 

When i heard the Album Trance Frendz of Olafur Arnalds & Nils Frahm for the first time, i directly felt a connection to the song they both started together at 00:26. The fine textures of the synths and the subtle evolution in this one-taker brought up the idea of having a version i can play in the late nights on the dance floor but which also would work perfectly for listening in your comfort zone. 

The drums and way of how the remix should flow came naturally and as i had the song standing i layered the original stems here and there to have the track playing in some kind of canon. As i was very happy with my personal version i sent it out to https://soundcloud.com/olafur-arnalds, https://soundcloud.com/erasedtapes & the rest of the participants of this project. Gladly Olafur picked up my remix and forwarded the song to the label which lead to having this unofficial version approved to share with you out there. I hope you like it and thanks to Erased Tapes and all involved for the support :)

Three records taken from Jian Kellet Liew a.k.a Kyson’s internationally acclaimed 2016 album ‘A Book Of Flying’; ‘A Song About The Future’, ‘Flightless’, and ‘You’ receive three fresh reworks, marking the Anjunadeep debut of the Australian born, Berlin based vocalist and producer. Earlier in 2018, Tokyo's Yunosuke Senoo aka Lycoriscoris released his genre-defying album ‘Flight’ via Anjunadeep. Ambient, emotive, and cinematic, ‘Flight’ is a bold showcase of skilled production and songwriting. 'Flight (Remixed)’ sees reinterpretations from German artists Grandbrothers and Ryan Davis.

Erol Sarp and Lukas Vogel of Grandbrothers have won plaudits from the likes of Dixon and Gilles Peterson, and drawn comparison to Steve Reich and Nils Frahm. They create all of their sounds with a grand piano, everything from melody to percussion. My second work for Robot´s label is a remix for one of his own 'Crystal Grid' 
I chopped, reversed and pitched the original samples glueing them together again as a 3 part cinematic mini composition. Starting with ambiences and subtle rhythms that  feel like you listen to your inner body while your journey goes further and turns your attention to  your near surroundings as the piano and beats get more defined. The third act is opening up an ocean of sounds filling your mind from every source of sound you can absorb till the wave of excitement coincides back to your inner self. 

The whole ep includes many more great takes on Robot´s music by Daniel Brandt, Chi Thanh and Jan Wagner and new material that hasnt made it onto his album.
