‘better days will come’ is the third single taken from Leaving Laurel’s upcoming sophomore album ‘when the quiet comes’, out May 19 via Anjunadeep.

The single marries soft piano melodies with expansive pads and a driving beat, and is aptly titled; perfectly capturing the poignant sentiment at the heart of the upcoming record, which follows the loss of esteemed producer Pierce Fulton and marks a new chapter for band members, his brother Griff Fulton, and friend, Gordon Huntley. In discovering recordings made by Pierce years prior, Huntley has set out to finish what they started together and given life to forgotten ideas, impressing an affecting sense of hope upon the listener, and providing a cathartic sense of closure for himself;

"Making this record was my search to find purpose after Pierce passed. It was a light to show me a way forward. A way for me to grieve, a way for me to hold onto the memories. A eulogy to my friend.”

A tale of two old friends, Gordon and Pierce, Leaving Laurel connected the duo musically for the first time after being close friends for almost a decade. Since their debut release in 2020, the duo have garnered a fervent fanbase and widespread support. Previous singles and Leaving Laurel’s preceding EP ‘fireflies (for as far as we could see)’ have received an overwhelmingly warm reception from fans and tastemakers alike, including Black Coffee, Joris Voorn, Sultan + Shepard and David Hohme, as well as further radio support from BBC Radio 1 and SiriusXM, where ‘fireflies (for as far as we could see)’ EP has clocked over 175 spins to date.

Anjunadeep label co-founder and A&R James Grant and Bristolian DJ Jody Wisternoff share their milestone tenth mixed compilation together - Anjunadeep 14 Mixed by James Grant & Jody Wisternoff. 

Anjunadeep, is the renowned UK label responsible for breaking acts like Lane 8, Dusky, Yotto, Ben Böhmer and Eli & Fur. Ever since the inaugural ‘Anjunadeep 01’ in 2009, the compilation series has been a launchpad for the next generation of electronic artists.

Anjunadeep 14 showcases the diverse sounds of Anjunadeep, setting the label’s agenda for 2023 with new and exclusive tracks across two meticulously-crafted mixes. There’s label favourites Yotto, Luttrell and 16BL alongside the next wave of stars such as Simon Doty, Durante and Romain Garcia. This year, Jody and James are pleased to introduce new talent to the label, with debuts from Amy Root, Paul Baule, Natascha Polké and Claxy.

To celebrate the release of this year’s compilation, James and Jody have filmed a special live performance of Anjunadeep 14 at Qarraba Bay in Malta. Filmed across one 180 minute sunset session, the performance can be viewed on the Anjunadeep YouTube channel.

Matthias Vogt makes his Reflections debut with new single ‘A Dream Fulfilled’, alongside the incredible Hans Berg.

Matthias Vogt’s production journey is unconventional to say the least. His early influences came from church, jazz band and Frankfurt’s underground, so his music is a sonic melting pot. Over his decades-long career, Vogt has released dozens of albums under various aliases, including Motorcitysoul and [re:jazz], but his eponymous Matthias Vogt project is where his passion for electronic music, club culture and deep listening intertwine.

His first releases as Matthias Vogt were deep house productions on labels like Polytone Recordings, Saw Recordings and Komplex De Deep. His first release on Anjunadeep came out in 2015, a 3-track house EP that treads the line between hopeful and melancholy. His work took a turn in 2022 with the release of his Pianissimo album, which he describes as a political project. He took away the beats, the bass and the breaks and replaced them with slow-moving music accompanied by soundbites from climate change activists.

On 'A Dream Fulfilled', the trained piano player and jazz musician mixes his eclectic musical range with Hans’ raw talent to create a beautiful and moving track. Vogt has always been fascinated by the work of Hans, and their collaboration pushed Vogt’s creativity in unexpected ways. Berg used a series of prolonged notes stretched out over several minutes, taking up a lot more space than Vogt is used to, however he liked the structure so much he used it as a blueprint for many of the others on the album.

Alongside the release of the single and his new album 'Ten As One', due 7th August, Matthias has tour dates lined up including Anjunadeep Open Air in Finsbury Park, Gans Anders Festival, plus additional dates across Germany.

Northling illuminate Reflections once again with their new single ‘Lights’.

Hailing from Lancashire, this talented collective of six musicians originally formed as an improvisational group in 2017, and since then, their distinctive blend of haunting, cinematic indie-electronica has earned them support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC 6 Music.

'Lights' comes as the first single from an upcoming EP project, marking their second release through Reflections, following their last EP Tycho. Born from a series of studio sessions, this song showcases the band's collective writing skills. Departing from their signature dynamic drums, ‘Lights’ embraces a delicate composition enriched by guitar melodies and pulsating samples, setting the tone for the EP's cinematic journey.

As part of the EP, Northling will be hosting an EP launch in London September, with additional tour dates including Anjunadeep Open Air in Finsbury Park.

Jōhatsu has already had an impressive start since its debut earlier this year. It has garnered widespread acclaim earning recognition from reputable imprints such as Pitchfork, CLASH, Mojo, and received airtime on BBC Radio 6, including plays by Mary Ann Hobbs.

In addition, the album has gained substantial support on various DSPs, including a Peaceful Meditation cover on Amazon Music, a Spotify The Listening Room playlist takeover and a Chill list from Apple Music. 

Renowned multi-instrumentalist Lycoriscoris is no stranger to the Anjuna family. Having previously released on Anjunadeep, he now makes his debut on Reflections, showcasing his remixing skills on Mark Barrott's track 'Kyoto'. With a decade-long career in electronic music, Lycoriscoris has garnered support from influential figures like DJ Koze, &ME, Michael Mayer, Phil Taggart, and airplay from tastemaker radio stations including NTS, KEXP, and BBC Radio 1.

Lycoriscoris's interpretation of 'Kyoto' maintains the essence of the original but takes it to new electronic heights, infusing it with weightier synths and a distinct signature blend of sound design.

The classically trained Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith works her magic on ‘Kamikakushi’.  Known for her experimental and avant-garde electronic sound, she has received high praise from respected publications such as NPR, The New York Times, The Wire, and Rolling Stone. Beyond her skills as a producer, Kaitlyn is also a gifted composer who has worked on commissions for Apple, BBC Orchestra, Epcot, Google, and more.

In her atmospheric ambient rework of 'Kamikakushi', she strips down the original track, adding new layers of synths to create an ethereal and haunting sonic experience.
