Is there an answer to my question of longing ?

this set shows a lot of my favorite artists and spotlights juke and
jungle and everything hybrid in between and around as the styles that
influences me most: they can be soothing, stressful, weird, funny,
groovy. challenging our listening and dancing behavior and I can’t
express my gratitude for these genres & their artists.

Starting the new century of the series is Mukuna. The Basel-born DJ and producer earned a reputation as a key figure in the local scene through his genre-bending style of DJing that is fueled by his passion for percussion. He has a residency at Basel-based club Elysia and is a radio host on EOS radio and TRNST radio. As recent as last month he was a part of the Nyege Nyege festival at Garage Noord here in Amsterdam. As a producer, he heads the Somatic Rituals label with longtime collaborators Kombé, Mafou, and the visual artists Dimitri Erhard, Flavio Karrer & Lukas Schläpfer. Somatic Rituals have been hosting a series of inclusive parties at Elysia Basel and other venues in nationwide. In 2018 Mukuna, alongside Kombé and Mafou, released his first tape titled SORI001 on their new platform. His selection combines his love for percussion with rhythmic electronic elements. Hello again, we have for you a fresh, powerful, and a bit punky mix from a London artist named Jabes (@jab_es). The mix is really multi-genre, experimental, and even with a touch of guitar heritage. As for Jabes, he has already been known for his notorious track Roley Poley, his mix was published on @factmag, he produced a great remix of @stolenvelour, released by @kindergartenrecords, and had a collaboration with the famous producer Happa. The artist says that he creates a dangerous, trippy, and otherworldly sound, and we agree with him, so we advise you to listen and join the trip.

Today, Ukraine needs support as never before, so we hope your piggie banks still have some cash for Repair Together. It's a Ukrainian volunteer initiative to restore the communities that suffered from the occupation. And remember, every penny matters! Slava Ukraini!

We are happy to continue a series of bass mixes from @anklav-is with the next one by @4navr1n, from London. Rising underground artist from the United Kingdom. Releases on SPE: C, Scuffed Recordings, Shubzin, and many guest mixes are just a few of his achievements on the electronic scene to count.

Last year he came to Kyiv to perform at his first foreign gig at Anklav party in Arsenal XXII and recorded this insane mixtape during a home pre-party which we streamed (check our youtube-channel).

Prague's Mor Wen is at the helm of this week's Rhythmic Culture podcast. Mor Wen is a part of Glory Affairs - a morphing group of collaborative friends combining various forms of audiovisual art. The collective's wish is to co-create bonds between both friends and strangers through reshaping different environments into temporary multi-genre living rooms. It combines and plays with sound, movement, cooking, painting, sculpting, costumes, performance and mainly light-hearted humor.

The Planeta Za + Ankali resident oscillates between community building, live performance, DJing, keeping the borders between blurred at all times. Among experiences which influenced her practice is a participation in physical theatre, intergenerational movement and cooking workshops, and teaching children in Prague’s Vietnamese cultural centre of Sapa.

Extremely pleased to be welcoming McGregor to my recently launched Next Of Kin mix series. His productions are as visceral and evocative as they are varied and striking. I had the pleasure of being sent a few of his unreleased tracks and immediately fell in love with his textural exploration and unique approach to creating club ready sounds. I opened the last Next Of Kin mix with one of my favourite pieces from that collection, ‘A Swathe Of Drums’. A delicate ambient piece that sporadicly builds, subtly writhing it’s way through soft pads and grating glitches. 

As well as his own productions, he runs Haar, a night based around sensory deprivation. With absolutely minimalist lighting, Haar aims to create a heightened  experience and connection for its dance floor patrons. The night is developing and expanding its concepts, flexing creative muscles and looking forward to the future, with some new projects in the pipe line.  

The mix McGregor has recorded is indicative of his emerging sound. Abundant in texture, hypnotic atmospherics, stylistic exploration and a few teaser unreleased tracks from the man himself thrown in.
