Straight outta the fiord lands of southern Norway comes the new EP from Hydrous. We’ve come to a point where we no longer need to introduce the sound universe of Per Christian Berg to our ever-growing Navigare tribe, as he’s become a foundation for what we are and what we want to express. “Deep Techno”, “Psychedelia”, “Neo Trance” – call it whatever you like, what matters is that our brand of electronic dance music can assist your spirit to fly.

Simple, yet rich in detail; uniform, yet explorative; uplifting, yet with an unmistakable Nordic melancholia – Hydrous music continues to hypnotize and fascinate us at the Navigare HQ, and we’re happy to continuously receive the praise he deserves from around the globe from his past collaborations with us.

For this release you’ll notice a subtle gain in intensity in all three tracks. Although being far from peak time monsters, the aim here is undoubtedly to entrance a focused dancefloor, preferably while the sun is rising. Whether it’s the Eden-like atmosphere of “Cascade”, the introverted broken beats of “Infinite” or the meaty trance of “Pathos” that will guide the crowd through the morning session is only a matter of circumstances and taste.

Remix work is by none other than Buenos Aires based Forest On Stasys. Owner of the celebrated label Danza Nativa and a highly accomplished producer, stretching from tribal Ambient to dirty, mind-melting peak-time Techno, we knew we’d be in for a treat for this collaboration. Staying true to a Hydrous sound universe, while adding gentle tribal percussion and some über-psychedelic alien bleeps á la Eat Static, this track will blow minds on a starlit night out in the wild.

After a long break due to family matters and issues that has needed attending, i am finally producing music again. It has been a rough 6 months and maybe this piece reflects that. This is sort of an apology for my absence and a statement, that i will release and make music on a regular basis again. This is a jam with my friend Martin (Piano) and myself (general production and guitar). I hope you enjoy it. More music to be released on different labels. My soundcloud however, will remain my channel to share free music that is more laid-back and listener friendly.

After showcasing the finely tuned brilliance of DAVE DK's electronic impressionism with PALMAILLE (KOMPAKT 277) and full-length VAL MAIRA (KOMPAKT 326 CD 121), it's time to unlock the full floor potential of the Berlin-based producer's intricate sonic tapestry - and give some other artists a shot at this infinitely gratifying source material. Highly regarded soundsmith ISOLÉE is well-known for his prowess when it comes to indie-infused, minimalist house with a catchy twist - just think of his timeless masterpiece "Beau Mot Plage" and its visionary blend of genres. His rework of the bass-laden, atmospheric WE MIX AT SIX is no different, steaming down the sophisticated textures of the original and soaking the resulting concentrate in a stirring bounce. Internationally acclaimed producer ULRICH SCHNAUSS has a similar knack for transcending electronica and brings his expertise in ethereal soundscapes to a surprisingly throbbing, pop-instilled, decidedly epic version of KRONSEE. Brooklyn/LA-based housetronics wizard PORTABLE SUNSETS rounds off this batch of carefully minted remixes with his take on NUEVA CANCION, turning its warm, organic hum into pure rythmatic poetry.

Coming from the heart of Bosnia, Solomun is a passionate DJ who certainly knows how to please a crowd and keep the energy on the floor. Equally as talented and creative in the studio, he has many releases to his name on his own label Diynamic, as well as other imprints such as Four:Twenty, liebe*detail and Dessous recordings. Made for the dancefloor, his productions always have an element of funk or surprise, reminding people of the fun that's there to be had with music. As a label with many close ties to mobilee records, Diynamic will be co-hosting a party at mobilee's Sonar 2010 celebrations, which makes it even more fitting that this release brings the two forces more closely together.

Solomun's next big bang, being brought to you via Leena music, is a sure extension of his impeccable production skills and style, and is also one of the most unique releases you will here on the label so far. A-side 'Sisi' opens with a head-spinning explosion of notes and chords, being fired out like sparks in a continual loop. Then half way through the record, they dramatically stop, only to soon build up again and set the roller coaster off once more. B-side 'Talk To The Hand' is a bass-heavy and punchy track, that surprises you with euphoric piano chords in the second half, whilst B2 'Curesto' brings all of the elements together with piano chords, build-ups and some drama. Berlin-based DJ and production duo Tale of Us take a step back from their busy touring and production schedule to compile the latest instalment of Renaissance's 'The Mix Collection' series. 

“We put this mix together in Mexico, looking out at a beautiful sea in a magical spot in the Yucatan, surrounded by friends and label mates as we recovered from an intense new year's and BPM rush. It was the perfect setting to take on something like this, looking back at the year behind us, not concerned so much by genres and boundaries as much as by assembling a musical picture of where we're at, where we've been and most importantly a little bit of where we're going. Each of the two mixes is a journey unto itself but together they can be seen as our musical chiaroscuro, reflecting a bit of the two sides of the way we think both about DJing and producing. It's hard to confine ourselves to just over 2 hours when there is so much music we've fallen in love with but this is the best reflection of this moment in time for us. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.”

Throughout their first mix the duo move effortlessly between the driving aesthetics of Kollektiv Turmstrasse and anthemic highs of Scuba to more experimental and angular remixes from Baths and Four Tet. The second mix takes a distinctly more mininal approach, with the textures of Daniel Avery, Recondite, Robert Hood and Extrawelt's productions taking the driving seat and remixes from the likes of Donato Dozzy and DJ Koze switching up already excellent originals. Across both mixes Tale of Us have managed to balance the deep, melodic, upbeat and sometimes more challenging elements of electronic music through careful selection and programming to ensure both have the flow and finesse that listeners have come to expect of a Renaissance release.

Tale of Us are certainly no strangers to the decks, between throwing their own 'Just This' secret loft parties in Milan, regular fixtures at renowned clubs such as Berlin's Watergate, Ibiza's DC10 as well as live and DJ sets at festivals such as Sonar and Movement. Alongside this, their productions have caught the attention of Seth Troxler, Shaun Reeves, Ryan Crosson and Lee Curtiss, who released their debut EP on Visionquest in 2011. 

The Mix Collection series saw it's inaugural 1994 release from Sasha & John Digweed, who set a new standard for the DJ compilation format. Since then Renaissance has undergone a musical shift, with recent contributions from M.A.N.D.Y., Gui Boratto and now Tale of Us helping to bring the original spirit of the brand to a new generation of music aficionados.
