Here iz a very rare recording of Derrick Carter @ an after party. Derrick & I go way back 2 tha day'z he worked @ the legendary record store in Chicago called Imports Etc. I actually still have my last receipt of records Derrick pulled out 4 me.
Super cool cat!! It'z been yrz I've talked 2 you but I am so grateful 4 all the yrz you helped me select tha right joint'z... either there in Chicago or by many mail orders on the phone.

The mighty Doc Martin is probably the LA underground’s most famed export. Ask anyone who’s heard this hardworking house troubadour play a three-hour set anywhere in the world and they’ll tell you about his superb and eclectic taste (finding the perfect balance between soulful and trippy), his wizardry with the crossfader and his uncanny instinct for getting a crowd going. Back in the day his residency at legendary afterhours warehouse Flammable Liquid represented the transition from rave to house, both over the course of any given late night, and over the years as the scene matured. At this session from the height of the rave scene in November ’91, you can hear Doc mix energetic techno and breakbeat tunes (‘The Bouncer’ by Kicks Like a Mule; Hold It Down by 2 Bad Mice) with deeper, dubbier, more advanced stuff – like his signature anthem, Feel It by Coco Steel & Lovebomb, worked to great effect on two copies here.

Right.....imagine 1993, imagine the basement in the music factory in Leeds.......and Huggy pumping his heavy electro/techno beats. This tape was bought on the night of the 2nd birthday party of backtobasics...think it was a fiver, there was also the Ralph Lawson tape they were selling....but can't find that one ..."yet". Basic's was THEE place to be and me and the pals had many memorable nights there.......what a place and what a club and as you will see with this mix from Huggy.......he knew the tunes to get the Basics basement crowd going!!!
