I have dislexia. It makes spelling difficult. As a kid it set me apart from the bright kids.
This song was built out of the feelings I carried back then. It made me feel stupid.
The voices I am singing over belong to Phil Marshal. It was fun to do. Some people hated this song. I love it.

I had a wonderful dentist who encouraged my music while I was still very young. He made coming to the dentist really fun for me. This is all completely true.

THE DENTIST CHAIR'S FOR ME

Sitting in the Dentist's Chair, I didn't really have a care
13 cavities were there and I was playing HOOKY !
I was 10 years old that day. How did my teeth get that way?
TOO much candy and cake they say, Not to mention cookie.

Here comes the needle of Novocain. Do I cry or feel the pain?
I'm not scared, let me explain, I'm in Love with my Dentist !

He first put's liquid on my gum to make it feel a little numb.
The needle sort of pushes some and then we play some music.
Into his office chairs we glide. Our instruments are at our sides.
He plays the fiddle, I never tried. I play the ukulele.

We play Over The Rainbow, Slow Boat To China, Charmaine.
We stop for 2 minutes, move back where we were,.
And he slips in more Novocain. Then back to the music,
We play up a storm and after several more tunes
I'm back in the chair completely prepared for whatever ensues.

Don't feel the drills, I don't mind the water or the smells
I'm a surgeon's daughter. And over it all the music fills
A heart that thrills for I'm in Love with my Dentist.

Eyes bluer the the sky, teeth as white as snow
A smile brighter then the sun, a voice with a singing flow,
Melodious,  gentle, humorous, sentimental
And all I had to do to keep him by my side
Was sit and stare into his eyes with my mouth open wide.

Oh Rapture, oh Joy, the Dentist's Chair's for me.
I can hardly wait to be sitting there again so he
Can stand there looking down at me, saying
See you next week at quarter to three
There are ten more cavities to fill , you see?
That's more then fine with me,

This is a live performance and I am playing my Baritone Ukulele. In my song Forever came to my door I am surprised by his visit. We have a conversation about what is of value in life. I feel comforted and very content that we became acquainted.
I am also playing flute on two other tracks and a nickleharpa which is a bowed instrument. to the right is my painting of Forever as he bids me good bye. He is the color of sunset

Forever Came To My Door

I worked 40 years with Gordon Bok, doing concerts singing and recording folk music. 27 of those years were spent as a trio when Ed Trickett joined us. The music we found to sing was truly remarkable and memorable. After we partied company I started writing music and lyrics and learned the basics about recording. I began studying violin. This just adds a bit more about me.
