Live From Dekalb, Volume 1 [Mix]

Established in 2016, Little Giant Records is the Brooklyn-born label founded by Anna Cavazos that specializes in the kind of deep house sounds that belong in the dark and sweaty basements of underground clubs. Anna is a DJ, producer, and vocalist who has lived between LA, NYC, and Berlin. Her love affair with house began in 2001 when she started spinning in New York City, and after featuring as a vocalist in works with Sandy Rivera, Bah Samba and Steve Mill, Anna stepped into the studio to begin her production debut. Now her discography includes original compositions, remixes, and collaborations with the likes of Satoshi Tomiie and Eli Escobar. Anna Cavazos has played out across the globe for over 15 years, mixing and blending the deep house sounds of Chicago, New York, and Berlin. She has played at Soho House Berlin, Pacha in Ibiza, and the rooftop of Le Bain in New York City, her releases hosted on King Street Sounds, Madhouse, Nite Grooves, What Happens and Defected.
 
The EP kicks off with the original of ‘Love Interlude’ - melancholic and piano-heavy with an ultra-deep baseline embellished with warm pads and soulful drums.  Anna’s soulful vocal floats above the melody creating an emotional and moving interlude. Next up Matthias Vogt delivers a deep-house masterpiece adding extra keys, drum accents, and a well-placed baseline that is weaved neatly into the vocal hook while Vogt delivers the warm, jazz-flecked vibrations he is well known for. Up next Rick Wade weighs in with some ever so classy house laced with flashes from the Motor City of Detroit. Warm electro piano, glowing synths, and vocal parts contrast with the deep sub baseline. Closing out this EP Rissa Garcia draws heavily on her New York house inspirations. Organ riffs and a funk-inspired bass line lead the charge dropping in and out between vocal harmonies and subtle synth work. Percussive accents bring it all home making this closing cut one dancefloor destroying, peak-time bomb.

The Little Giants label continues to do great work early on its existence with a super seductive new EP from Anna Cavazos. She serves up a lush single 'Love Interlude' which has rolling, unhindered deep house drums serving as a vehicle for the beautiful chords that ride up top. A series of remixes then bring different perspectives with Matthias Vogt going for something more dubby and heavy, Rick Wade bringing his textbook Detroit house dust and soul and Rissa Garcia flips it into a soulful jam with a prominent bassline and more celebratory piano chords.

DJ Hell is one of the true legends of Techno and House music. And when he asked me if I wanted to remix one track of his concept album „Zukunftmusik“ (which is by the way a genius name) I was not hesitating. 
The track has a certain melancholic atmosphere that I wanted to save also in the remix. And also the lyrics remember us not to forget where our an important part of our electronic music culture comes from: from gay culture and parties.

Anna Cavazos is a DJ, producer and vocalist who has lived between Los Angeles, NYC and Berlin. Her love affair with house music began in 2001 when she started spinning records at underground clubs in NYC. She started producing her own music after featuring as a vocalist and songwriter on releases with Sandy Rivera, Bah Samba, Steve Mill and more. Her discography is a variety of originals, collaborations and remixes, including work with world renowned acts Satoshi Tomeii and Eli Escobar.

Her DJ skills have taken her worldwide, appearing at clubs Cookies with M.A.N.D.Y., Chalet, Pacha, Le Baron, Buddha Bar, Ritual Club, Room 26, Suicide Circus, Le Bain, Macarena Club, Soho House, etc.  Her move from NYC to Berlin in 2014 had her collaborating with local artists Max Joni and Alley O on songs that garnered the attention of Damian Lazarus, MK and Jazzanova. 

Whether she’s creating originals, or polishing groovy dance numbers in her solo works, Anna always captures the soul of house music, expertly morphing musical visions into her trademark sound.
Her songs have been released on King Street Sounds, Madhouse Records, Nite Grooves, What Happens and have been licensed by Defected Records. As a DJ, she exudes fun loving energy and has an unmatched style. Performing globally for over 15 years, she is technically consummate and delivers a blend of Chicago, Berlin and New York influenced house music. She has appeared on Dublab Radio, BBC Radio, Ibiza Global Radio, Bloop London, Berlin’s Reboot FM and has a monthly residency on Brighton's 1BTN radio. Her collaborations have premiered on 6AM, XLR8R magazine, London House Music, Le Yeux Orange, Maslow Unknown, and many more. 

Following her 12″ vinyl release in Fall of 2019 entitled Persephone with remixes from Evren Furtuna, DJ Jauche, and Pete Moss, DeepStitched Records from South Africa selected her track Grooving for their new compilation Getstitched Vol.3 and invited her to remix Deeperteque’s Reckoning track. 

She currently runs and releases on her own imprint, Little Giant Records. Her recent 12” vinyl, Love Interlude, was released in the Fall of 2023 with remixes by Matthias Vogt, Rick Wade, and Rissa Garcia. An upcoming digital EP is in the works for release in 2025.
