Anna Dagmar was three albums into a critically acclaimed songwriting career which wove together colorful jazz harmonies, inviting pop melodies and refined classical piano textures. Then she stepped into the world of folk music. There she learned how to lift a personal story to a universal truth. This summer, the NYC-based pianist, arranger and singer-songwriter releases a new album, matched in music and narrative, Satellite.

Let the Waves Come in Threes is Brooklyn-based pianist/singer-songwriter Anna Dagmar's third full-length album, a three-year love affair, three years in the making. Produced by drummer Ben Wittman (Patty Larkin, Jonatha Brooke), the title track is an upbeat sea shanty which tells the vivid tale of a young girl whose treasured diary has been tattered and swept up in a wild storm. She looks out across the ocean for meaning and direction as a mysterious voice rises up from the waves. The album features twelve piano-driven folk/pop songs, lyrical string arrangements, breathtaking soundscapes by guitarist Marc Shulman (Suzanne Vega) and vocalist Theo Bleckmann (Laurie Anderson), and the wholesome, unpredictable, and refreshing voice of Anna Dagmar. Anna Dagmar is a NYC-based pianist, vocalist, singer-songwriter and musical theatre composer. She is a two-time Gold Prize winner in the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest and has released three full length albums. With her 2012 release, Satellite, Dagmar was selected as a national finalist in both the Kerrville and Rocky Mountain Folk Festivals. She has performed at venues such as Club Passim, Tupelo Hall, and City Winery and on radio stations including WFUV and WFMT. She is currently writing a gypsy-jazz influenced musical titled Kids These Days with lyricist Kevin Wanzor. Dagmar is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music. www.AnnaDagmar.com
