Nine is my sophomore album.


As an artist, I often look to what is happening in the world to get inspiration on what topics I should address in my work. In 2020, the world witnessed a sudden rise of gender based violence and a general disregard for the safety and progression of the lives of women. As it escalated, I asked myself what could be the underlying cause. This is not a proven fact but I settled on the notion that there is an imbalance in energies in the world. I believe that within every human being there is the divine feminine and the divine masculine energy and part of our human journey is keeping ourselves and our energies in balance. With this album I wanted to celebrate, uplift and inspire the WOMAN and give rise to the divine feminie energy, so that it may return in equal standing with the divine masculine energy. The number nine is sacred to me. I was born on the ninth day of the ninth month after my mother had carried me for nine months. The number nine connects me to a maternal and feminine energy and the deeper understanding that without it, there would be no me. The name of the album takes on two meanings.

The honoring of the divine feminine energy

In numerology, nine is the last number of all numbers because ten is a combination of 1 and 0, so nine is the end; it represents the end of a cycle. For me it represents the end of the imbalance the world is facing. It signals a new era of balance and harmony within oneself and also on the outside of self; within homes, communities, countries and the world.

The third song on Annalie's sophomore album, Nine. Set Your Sight is a lovers rock that speaks on how young people are now reinventing ways to experience love in these times of isolation.

Caught in hell loop of a state of emergency, tight curfew hours, tragic daily statistics and an overwhelming sense of nostalgia, Annalie shares her views on the world and her position in it.

The sixth song on my sophomore album, Nine. Mama O celebrates the feminine energy in the aspect of creation. It honors the mother and the maternal energy that our Earth and Galaxy gives to us.

The fourth song on my sophomore album, Nine. Once Again touches on the concept of the twin flame and how two souls can feel as though they have been connected through different lifetimes. This theme ties into the entire theme of cycles, repetition and how understanding the feminine energy can actually help us predict the future; in this case, I know I'll meet this person or this energy again because I know it always happens.

Seasons

The first track on Annalie's sophomore album, Nine. In Sanskrit, Susilla means goodness or righteousness. In Yoruba (Nigeria), Asé can mean "so be it" or "so it is".  An African way of creation and/or confirmation. So in short the song is a chariot riding in the album, affirming goodness and righteousness.

Annalie Prime is a Roots-Pop singer, songwriter and music composer. Her sound is a fusion of genres with roots elements like Calypso, Reggae, Blues, Jazz and  Folk. In 2020, Annalie released her debut album entitled "I Think Too Much" which revolves around the topic of mental health and self improvement. In an interview with Laura Dowrich for Caribbean Beat Magazine, she described the album as " a bunch of journal entries". In 2021 she released her sophomore album entitled "Nine". In an interview via Loop News TT , she said that the album was created as a response to the "sudden rise in gender based violence". The singer also added that she wanted to, "Celebrate, uplift and inspire the WOMAN" with the latest project.
