Another alumni of Dalston Superstore, the BRIT school of East London, Buggery Grips (aka Toby Hooves) makes his FM debut this year. 

Founder and resident DJ of queer club night Fast & Bi-Furious, a party dedicated to bisexuality and bass, he’s played host to guests such as L U C Y, Naina and Soul Mass Transit System. His own sets, meanwhile, cover a range of gritty, low-end led sounds as this mix demonstrates. Blending speed garage, bassline, funky, hard house, breaks, hardcore and jungle, it’s a high energy party ride to help make this your summer of wub. Over to Buggery Grips to tell us more:

Three women, angels, beings, entities, modern curators and conductors with a mysterious origin, who create euphoric atmospheres for the gavotting crowds using a mixer, three decks, telepathy and sex appeal.

This time we were asked to play house but knowing us, we had to throw some broken beats in the mix too. We aimed to build something light but still funky and danceable. Welcome to enjoy Seppo’s Angels official debut with this euphoric, bouncy and energetic early Sunday morning gallop.

"Vivien Flavia Maria Sorrentino is an interdisciplinary artist and designer from Berlin, currently studying in Weimar. In her design and artistic practice, she focuses on the translation and materialization of progressive (typo-)graphic forms, pursuing conceptual, experimental, and material-based approaches. Her most recent work involves the critical analysis of the romanticization and institutionalization of cultural (transitional) rites, and the empowering appropriation and reinterpretation of these. She examines Western wedding traditions, such as the white wedding, and the role of the bride within them. As a historical parament anchored in Christian ceremonies, the medium of wax expresses transformation, transition, and change."

For the 6th edition of ELVT In The Mix, we invited the Bangalore-based Safar Collective bossman - I7HVN to take us on an hour-long auditory exploration that transgresses through atmospheric, textural, and hypnotic sounds, filled with broken beats and tons of layering. 

I7HVN [ish-an] boasts a captivating oeuvre that interweaves musical and visual elements to create a mesmerizing narrative. Starting in 2013 and evolving into a vivid storytelling experience in 2021, the project's sonic palette finds inspiration in the surreal and otherworldly realms of fantasy literature. I7HVN predominantly delves in the realms of Techno, Electro & IDM but contrastingly has also invited Electronica & Ambient music in his Catalog.

This mix showcases I7HVN's ability to create powerful soundscapes consisting of deep, hypnotic, forest-dwelling rhythms that resonate with our sonic existence, body, and mind. The 64 minute journey effortlessly balances brooding low ends, as well as airy pulses and is suited for night-time sonic ventures.
