Anna Vital's interview with Adeline Chua (BFM Radio, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 98.9FM) where Anna explains how to do infographics and what skills you need to start.

	Adeline: It’s Going Global on Open For Business, I’m Adeline Chua, good morning. Right now there are 400 million entrepreneurs in this world and by 2020 there will be 1 billion entrepreneurs. Can society cope with the demand of this growing entrepreneurs each ear. One of the best things about being an entrepreneur is the chance to put your creativity, imagination and skill you use in building a product that solves a problem and, of course, meet customers' needs. Funders and Founders are solving a problem like this firstly by explaining what it’s all about. Here with me is Anna Vital, the co-founder of Funders and Founders. Anna, Welcome. 
	Anna: Thank you, hello.
	Adeline: Last year you were named in the top 10 of Entrepreneur Magazine infographics, where 5 out of 10 were yours. So what were these infographics about? 
	Anna: These are all about startup entrepreneurship. One of the hits from last year was one that explains how some entrepreneurs were able to go from zero to being a billionaire. We took the top hundred richest people today and then we tried to find if there are any who were from what you and I would consider really, really unlucky circumstances, such as that they had no education, and their parents were not privileged in any way, you could even say they were really poor. And it turns out that out of the top hundred richest people in the world there are 8 that have that kind of a background. And I would think a lot of people would think, you know that’s no better than mine. You wouldn’t feel like you have any advantage. And then we looked how they were able to go from nothing to such great success. So that was one of the infographics and the other ones talk how to do a startup, what is funding, how to get funding, and so on.
	Adeline: Right. And, who designs these infographics? 
	Anna: We design them. We come up with a concept and, of course, we listen to what our readers want to know about. And then we come up with the research and the data, and we crunch the data, and find meaning behind it, and then design in such a way that it makes sense.
	Adeline: Was these something you stumble upon?
	Anna: Well, yeah. In a way, yes. I went to law school, and in law school I had to read a lot of legal cases, and they were not easy to understand. So one time I saw an infographic that was explaining how the legal system works. And I thought: “Wow, I just read this whole constitutional law book that was 800 pages, but I could have just started with this [infographic] and it would make a lot more sense. So I got so excited, I started to make infographics, even though I didn’t know how back then. And over time, it worked.
	Adeline: And what sort of skills do you need to do this?
	Anna: Well, I think the biggest skill is knowing how to make something that is complicated simple. That is the one biggest skill because there is a lot of good infographics out there these days. But I would say still very few achieved that objective. The main goal of the infographic is to visualize so everything becomes simple. The skill you need to have is to break down complicated into simple. And then - the design skill, which really I can’t say design is one particular skill, but is just the ability to think about things from different perspectives. Because there is a lot of ways to visualize the same thing, it’s just being able to see that and let your mind roam free until you see an angle that people maybe haven’t considered before. And that’s how you add value as a designer.
