An elusive producer comes back with a new mantle: Ruff Cherry, last seen on the label in 2017, returns with an EP of shredded halftime drum & bass with jungle accents that etches out a dominating stance in the producer’s first foray outside the thresholds of techno. Hugely distant from a meager first stab at the genre, the Cork-based producer’s ‘Phantom Fortress’ EP proficiently demarcates a sparse battleground for conflicting and rhythmically harmonic drum flairs, enveloping bass, and taut sound design that is as compelling as it is exhilarating.

Lindenberg Support is the man behind „Ode To Gallantry“, a complex and emotional tale of mistaken identity, trust and honor. 
The story begins with the beggar Shi Po Tian, aka the Bastard, stealing a bun which contains the Black Iron Token, created by skilled pugilist Xie Yanke, which grants the holder one wish. „C20/25“ and its pounding and pacy rhythmics, carrying pads and heavy hitting vibe, perfectly set the journey’s energetic and warm tone. 
Xie appears yearly, demanding that the clans repay in blood for any heinous act they committed throughout the year. The only way that a rude clan can avoid the cull is for the clan's leader to sacrifice himself for them. With „SKS (101)“ and its soothing and floating pads carrying the gentle lo-fi drums, the story heats up and evolves to a deeper intricacy. 
Fearing that Bastard might make him promise to stop his annual harvest of death, Xie spirits him away and trains him in martial arts so powerful that he is certain it will kill him, but instead, it makes him strong and resilient. The uplifting pads in „Gate“, supported by a reckless broken beat and pinging vocals, create a celestial vibe that pushes Bastard to his limits. 
He is rescued by the Chang Lo Clan that mistakes him for their villainous leader Shi Zhongyu and then treats him as their boss. With each case of mistaken identity, he becomes drawn into a number of heated conflicts between several rival schools and gangs - a dilemma that he just isn't prepared to deal with. The dreamy ambiance of „Kinda Weak“ and its well-wrought drum pattern slowly shroud the memories of his old life.
The final point is set with „Pol-1 (For Stefan)" - an emotive and profound ambient piece to close the story. He's sure to learn some valuable lessons about brotherhood and honor, but at what price?

Kamikaze Space Programme lands on Natural Selection with experimental techno EP ‘Ashes To Ashes, Dust To Dust’, accompanied by a jungle-infused remix from AnD’s Slave To Society. 

‘Ashes To Ashes’ welcomes you to Kamikaze Space Programme’s universe, a corner in the galaxy characterised by carefully designed atmospheres, deep textures and unpredictable yet infectious grooves. Seemingly disjointed and distorted drum elements are juxtaposed with lush synths, forming captivating acidic soundscapes. On the contrary, silky hi-hats establish ‘Dust To Dust’ before descending into raw experimental madness when powerful low-end muscles its way into the setting: a dystopian wasteland meant for the wandering ear, either at home or on the dancefloor. 

Originally on the label’s debut compilation ‘NS001’, the engine murmurs and hisses in ‘Trust Your Mechanic’. Faulty circuits cause unstable electrical surges, the distinct currents of a 303 enveloping furious drum machines. The label recruits one-half of prolific Mancunian techno duo AnD, Slave To Society, for the remix. He turns ‘Dust To Dust’ into an insatiable jungle flip, redefining the track by introducing raging amen breaks and rumbling reese bass. 

Natural Selection has built a roster of notable names in the techno, electro and acid scenes. Known for seeking out new styles whilst paying homage to its original roots, the imprint has hosted artists like The Advent, Jeroen Search, Umwelt and Assembler Code. Christopher Jarman AKA Kamikaze Space Programme, whose innovative sound landed him releases on respected labels such as MORD, Mote-Evolver and Osiris, provides Natural Selection with its first solo EP. Jarman also joins their upcoming excursion at legendary East London club Fold on the 9th of December 2022 alongside O/V/R (James Ruskin & Regis), Versalife, Annie Hall & more.

Very few electronic music artists can boast of spanning a wide musical spectrum as the UK producer Calum Lee aka Paleman / Fresnel Lens.Always emphasizing the percussive side (advantage of being a jazz drummer), and always with an innovative spirit, the releases of this authentic sound designer oscillate between the most abstract / experimental electronica and minimalist club focused techno, from atmospheric and introspective works to the sickest dubstep / bass music.

As at 30D we declare ourselves absolute fans of Calum’s music, we had a clear obligation to ask him to join our catalogue, specifically for the EyesHave It sub-label (we had especial interest in his interpretation of broken, dark and industrial techno). His answer was direct and unmistakable:”I’ve sent you a lot of pieces that fit with your label vision and the imagery that we love.. I’ve been studying existentialism a lot recently, so these tunes are a reflection of my headspace at the moment!”. A true declaration of intent!

And here it is, five perfect examples of obsessive tribal madness, overexciting synthetic broken beats and a lot of rawness. A pure musical gem.

After numerous heavy releases last year, the deutsch couple @not-even-noticed lands in MASA displaying their most raver facet.

A work conceived for the club with two contrasting sides yet a common flow of sinuosity and elation, wherein acid lines - in a nod to the 90's scene - lead to winsome, blooming landscapes full of nostalgia.

yet is a slippery word in English. Amorphous, these three letters in different contexts can define contrast or emphasis, set a place in time, show an expectation that something will occur or, paradoxically, that it is likely to stop. 

It is this mercurial nature that makes yet the perfect title for Tresor's latest compilation: the label follows on from the more explorative sections of 2021's landmark Tresor 30 boxed set with a compilation, featuring 13 artists making music that resists easy definition. 

Every track hints at and borrows from the familiar yet none follow the expected path: halfway through Deserto, Nandele &amp; A-Tweed dramatically reveal a very different sonic landscape that was initially suggested; DJ Sotofett collaborates with Sri Lankan artist Kavadi with results that are unlike anything in the Norwegian producer's catalogue as yet. 

Further invention can be found as Jean Redondo's Hypersonic moves across spaces inhabited by digital hardcore and hyperpop before swerving off-road and into a futuristic hip-hop section; on No Longer Human, Ireen Amnes takes a different path at the crossroads melding hyperpop, trance, and sci-fi soundtrack atmospherics, Significant Other heads towards UK Bass and Dubstep, and France's Willis Anne skims by the outskirts of footwork with a piece that is almost completely uncategorisable.

Yet more sonic experimentation comes from E-Saggila, Nadia Struiwigh, NVST, Solid Blake, and Viikatory who offer unique takes on the well-established electro blueprint, while Ryan James Ford, and Nit. both find ways to blend elements normally found in ambient pieces with those heard on a dancefloor.

The feel of the compilation is yet again reflected in the enigmatic artwork by Malik Arbab, where shapes and colours suggest animals and plants but in a world that appears to be transient and constantly evolving.

@ctrls plunges head first into a fragmented future of gleaming metallic sound design, crystal clear bass pressure, unreal sonic detail and high-speed sensory hypnotism, soaked in quantum mechanical ambience.

With little resemblance to what’s come before, the Danish producer fiercely mutates forward-thinking electro with machinist bass music into a cold-blooded and carefully programmed record, for the mind and for the floor.
