Whether you've floated on a blissful cloud during an ambient set, thrown some shapes in a sweaty dance or simply marvelled at the prolific design work spattered across the North American dance music scene, there's a good chance you've been expertly dosed by the curator of this week's PHTMLIVE mix; DJ EFT a.k.a Mugwert.

This mix was recorded at his most recent performance, PHTM Presents: Isabel Soto, where he delivered a scorching closing set. D(eft)ly manoeuvring between deep hypnotics, slamming hardgroove and carefully placed bass/grime cuts, the room was captivated throughout.

Not only his hometown of Portland but Vancouver, Seattle and scenes far beyond this radius owe a lot to this cat. Mad respect.

PHTMLIVE 034 PDX - DJ Eft (Live from Vancouver Nov 12th 2022)

For the last decade, Calum Lee AKA Paleman has steadily built a powerful catalogue of releases showcasing his unique percussive and textural take on electronic music. In 2020 he launched a new alias ‘Fresnel Lens’ that showcases his film scoring work and more experimental, explorative personal works running alongside his continuing work as Paleman.

After 2021’s self-released PLMN005, 2 Fresnel Lens albums and a short film OST, Paleman turns to Florence based Sublunar Records in 2022 for his next release and longest work to date - ‘Veiled’. The release encapsulates a considered and focused writing process informed by rhythm, momentum, abstract moods and a desire for tangible visceral sound design orbiting techno, UK experimental electronic music, and early electronics.

Donor, the Brooklyn-based artist, known for his releases on Stroboscopic Artefacts, Semantica and Prosthetic Pressings steps up on Sublunar with a brand new EP. The record consists of three original cuts plus a remix from the key figure in the legendary 'No Way Back' parties and 'The Bunker NY' resident Patrick Russell that with his interpretation of "Identity Revealed" raises the temperature level pushing even further the noisy elements of the track and its thick atmosphere while the bassline takes an unpredictable route becoming something sparse and syncopated.
