O dia que amanhece como se estivesse anoitecendo, lançado em 21/12/2020
em todas as plataformas digitais, é o álbum de estreia de João dos Santos.
Este álbum contém a singularidade do ano de 2020 em seu cerne, já que ele
foi todo composto, gravado e produzido ao longo deste mesmo ano. As letras passam pela
sensação de que esse ano tem algo de estranho, pela ansiedade do início da quarentena,
pela dúvida causada na distância da notícia do fato e, por fim, pelo questionamento da
própria realidade.
As músicas foram compostas em uma mistura entre improvisos e pósprodução experimental. João buscou trazer toda espontaneidade da música improvisada
(inclusive para as letras) para capturar ao máximo as sensações momentâneas, deixando
para a pós-produção o papel de intensificar o resultado inicial.
Ainda falando pelo lado técnico, o álbum contém mixagens e a masterização
que flertam com a estética impressa na música brasileira do início dos anos 70, em um
paralelo entre o que há de mais moderno na produção musical expresso em uma estética
ultrapassada, levando a um universo singular deglutido por esse álbum.
O dia que amanhece como se estivesse anoitecendo busca degenerar a utopia
da realidade própria dos sujeitos, pois, como o próprio diz “a verdade é que tudo isso não
passa de uma grande mentira”.

This disquiet junto 0473 [part 2 of 3] track, "The Wolf's Baleen," was inspired by the disquiet junto 0472 [part 1 of 3] recording by Chris Ludwidge [https://soundcloud.com/chrisledwidge ] called "No. 34 in Am" [ https://soundcloud.com/chrisledwidge/no-34-in-am-disquiet0472 ].

"I was so overwhelmed by the work by composer, Chris Ludwidge, and his disquiet junto 0472 piece, "No. 34 in Am," that I promptly downloaded it and got to work for this week's Disquiet Junto assignment, 'Placebo Effect."

I had but three hours to compose my piece, "The Wolf's Baleen," and knew I would have to fly into it. What struck me about the floating fragments of Chris' piece was how much it reminded me of some of Brian Eno's piano fragments and treatments on "Ambient #1: Music for Airports"; thus, I set out instinctively to complement Chris' tinklings on the piano: I first learned his piano figures, mimicked them, and based emphatic stylings upon certain notes (namely the B-flat note), adding treatments, such as a rhythmic delay and erratic reverberation changes.

I would write more, but my time has run out at the studio.
