Having already made a splash on Hypercolour and Losing Suki back in 2012 (‘Eyes’ EP and ‘Flow Control’ EP respectively), Bareskin makes a return to the roost in November with a sure fire packet of three.

Lead track ‘Distorted Symmetry’ is a deadly slab of pacey and techy house, its vocal bringing in a decent amount of soul to the proceedings.  A proper modern day house record, the production is first class, its reverberating and glitchy beats working a treat amongst the deep melody.

‘The Shape Of It’ comes deeper than a wizards sleeve, a twisted vocal hook held up with fat pads left, right and center, the minimal beats almost lending a pure ambient vibe to this one.  Bareskin AKA Josh Thompson, signs off with the cosmically titled ‘I Was Born To A Woman From Space’, a meaty beatfest, evoking shades of Mood II Swing at their dubbiest, with some extra terrestrial flutterings and deft keys holding up another cracking female vox line, defo one for the erection section.

After the success of his Cutty Ranks and Curtis Lynch assisted  "Badness" earlier in the year, Marcus Visionary, Toronto's Jungle ambassador, ropes in Russian Dancehall sensation Steppa Style for his latest bashment ready, Ragga Jungle weapon, "Step Aside". 

With the release dropping just in time for Carnival,  Inner City Dance have commissioned two different, yet equally effective remixes from two fast rising Toronto based producers aimed squarely at the Garage dance floor. 

For the aptly titled "Back 2 97" mix, Lamont Dex channels the inspiration of late 90's Double 99 and 187 Lockdown, creating a warping dread bass, skipping Garage workout, replete with time stretched vocal snips and full Ragga chatting refrains guaranteed to illicit instant reloads.

Citizen, the artist who kicked off the MadTech adventure last year, returns to Kerri Chandler’s imprint with the sublime ‘So Submissive’, backed with remixes from Waze & Odyssey.

An enigmatic character who has so far let his music do most of the talking for him, Citizen has set his stall out firmly with releases for Love Fever, Five Easy Pieces and Templar Sound in the past two years. His music, house with a capital H, explores the genres branches but does so with an unerring respect for it’s classic tropes.
Pitched vocals, nagging keys and boulder-like 909 kicks form ‘So Submissive’, a part-melancholic part-eurphoric houser with anthemic qualities. It’s counterpart, ‘Stronger With You’, builds on the Garage leanings of ‘So Submissive’ and notches them up a gear into true, New Jersey beats/dub territory and the result is a serious throw down.
Waze & Odyssey, having delivered the last MadTech 12”, return to the label for the remix of ‘So Submissive’ and deliver a slow-burning but authoritative take with some cleverly handled drops to counterpoint the tight, drawn out groove.
