LIGHT OF DAY

More light hearted than recent tunes of mine... This is a project that Gaz Brownie https://soundcloud.com/user-755327533 and I did together a couple years ago. Gaz presented me with vocal ideas & lyrics and a chord outline, and I put the music bed & production together.  We just released it on Spotify as The Bird Thieves band, with a new mix & master. I often wonder what people are talking about when they write the usual "love" song: my love is higher than a mountain/deeper than a sea/Iit will last forever ( then they add a day. great line John Prine!!)
I really think these songs do a disservice to love and confuse the inexperienced as to what to expect.
Relationships are not easy. Love at first sight is usually more physical than not and so is fragile . 
Respect/devotion/selflessness to some extent are all needed among other difficult traits to make a relationship ( ie love) last through time

This was unavoidable for me.  Politics aside, I think we can all agree that the mounting innocent victims of global conflict are a tragedy beyond measure.  These casualties should not be ignored as we sit in the comforts of our cushy little lives.

This song started as a hauntingly beautiful acoustic piece written and performed by James on his acoustic guitar. He shared it with JJ, who got the rest of us involved. JJ first added his barroom tinkle piano to the piece. Stephen quickly added the moody, tremolo guitar you hear throughout. Then, Ken and I did our little dance of back-and-forth bass-drum tracks until the rhythm section was solid. All that was left was for Stephen to mix it, with which we always appreciate his expert hand. 
  This is our first song with James, and it came together relatively quickly, which means we were all into it and having fun on it. James' page has a lot to hear on it-- some great originals and collabs, and some really cool covers, too. If you like this song, you'd really enjoy stopping by his page, too. As always, we hope you enjoy listening to this one as much as we enjoyed making it.
