It’s been around a year since we connected with Asphalt DJ & Gzardin through our mutual friend Jop Woesthuis. Now, 12 months later, we’re pretty amped to welcome these guys into our mix series after just having released their debut EP on Oddysee. We connected for a chat and they put together a propulsive mix of euphoria-inducing rollers to mark the occasion.

Fader Cap's productions and performances boast a distinct sound allowing him to make his mark both locally and beyond. A music head in every sense, his hardware based live shows never fail to inspire the energy in a room.

Written especially for our event, FC's set delves into elements of electro and melodic soundscapes underpinned by chugging progressive baselines, resulting in a hour of distinctive and vibing music - relive it here.

Six years, fifty releases, countless artists and multiple subsidiaries; the Oyster Cult’s reach extends far beyond what sceptics once thought possible. It’s only fitting, then, that we gather some of our finest under the Kalahari banner in celebration.

The anniversary release is upon us. Six whole years since Jacy helped inaugurate the label with a spin on Midwestern house, OYSTER40 signals a landmark occasion. 18 tracks, quadruple vinyl boxset action, and in true Oyster Cult tradition, it comes bearing pearls.

Dancefloor squarely in focus, the Cult assembles on a compilation spanning alumni and new inductees alike. It’s an assemblage of the fractal, explorative and ritual-ready; at once a focused distillation of the Kalahari sound and celebration of its many acolytes. Big on atmosphere, heavy on groove, we delve deeply into the musical DNA shared by all who grace the label.

Tough, direct cuts (Sansibar, Roza Terenzi, Big Zen, Maara & Priori) to the pristine and widescreen (S.O.N.S., Volodymyr Gnatenko, Adam Pits), this is all quintessentially Kalahari. Elsewhere though, the likes of D. Tiffany and SW. journey further into realms of abstraction: the former opting for hi-tech, dreamstate IDM, while the SUED co-founder dissolves a house template into dubby introspection.

Calling upon contemporary talents, for the most part, there are also exceptions. Raymond Castoldi - the one-time house producer best known as Madison Square Garden’s music director - returns with an unreleased nugget from ’91, while an ‘Aliens’-sampling track from Detroit-indebted techno outfit Syzygy gets the reissue treatment.

and DJs of the new school, the Australia - born, Berlin - based Glen S.
He's prepared an 8 hour sonic journey designed to guide and keep you motivated and in the zone throughout your working day - specifically, Thursday.

In Glen's own words:

"The general idea is that you whack it on when you start (let's say 9), and don't stop it - not even for lunch or morning tea. When the working day ends, it'll end with you, and hopefully have guided
you through the highs and lows you naturally go through.

Thursday is in my humblest of opinions - the best working day. Monday was a slog, Tuesday literal hell and on Wednesday you begin to feel remotely efficient. Thursday is where it's at. For that reason, this mix is full of midground dance music, with little dips into the foreground and definite dips into the background. The constant beat is a companion that you probably didn't need to get through the day, but (I hope) helps you stay extra focused and driven. Or if not, that you have an awesome day enjoying listening to music which I love.

Anyways, I truly hope find yourself getting lost in whatever you're
doing on whatever day you listen to this - but if it's a Thursday and
you get heaps of shit done then that's fucking awesome.
