Goa is over 20 years old in the mean time. Time for a retrodelic look! For this I dug in my huge cd & vinyl collection and decided to make a mix for every year for the period 1994-2020 to show the "new" generation of goa people how goa-trance evolved, and never really died ;)

This 11th mix is about 2002, mixed with 2 CDJ1000s and Pioneer djm300 (no lap top mixing involved!). In this period goa-trance was fading away... Some artists were flirting with full on, others with club trance, and early forest also saw the daylight! So, in the end it was possible to make another smashing tracklist with tracks released after the topdays of goa-trance!

This set was made specially for the friends of Old Dogs - New Tricks. A Greek radio show, dedicated to old school goa-trance. As I had to play before GAD, I made a set that was a mix between acid-goa-trance and more groovy and sometimes even highly melodic suomi! :) Mixed with CDJ1000s. Anoebis - Old Dogs New Tricks

This mixed cd by Anoebis was released as a collaboration between Suntrip & Amakusa Records in Japan for the 10 years Suntrip tour in Japan, exactly 1 year ago! There are only 200 copies of this cd. 100 were handed out on the 10 years Suntrip parties in Japan, and 100 were sold via the Suntrip shop. As this release was sold out in no time, we make it now available for everyone! :) There is one unique track on this cd, a never released before Dimension 5 track! :)

Anoebis - Sakura

A few months ago Nova Fractal asked me to make a mix with the best tracks in my opinion of the releases on his digital label Timewarp Records. 
This sounded like a challenge to me and the result can be found here! :) The title is how the mix feels to me: I "visited" 4 different territories :) 
The first part is rather Psy-trance with goa-influences, the second part is full power modern goa, the third part is morning goa-trance and the last part is euphoric goa/nitzhogoa!

Visiting Other Territories (Timewarpmix002)

Finally, I managed to record my Anoebis set I played @ ZNA 2022! The tracklist is below... But first, let me explain why this was a very special set for me:

* Practically: because it is ZNA... Without any doubt the best goa-trance festival in the world. On top of that, this set was played on the afterparty, which highlights the future generation of goa-trance. Many Suntrippers killed the place with goa-trance made last decade, but my message was a bit different. I wanted to show to the new dj-generation you can play fantastic goa-trance tracks with mostly released music! A good dj should not only go for rarities, but for the right tracks on the right moment... And hey, its ok when there is a bit more known track in between as well if it fits! :) 

* Emotionally... After a very rough period with lots of complications with our new born son since june, we were happy he was better! We even took him to the festival during some days (no worries, we slept in a hotel far from the noise). So this set was the first time I could finally release those emotions. This resulted in (yes yes, once again) the track Elie at the very end. Since the moment our son (called Elie) was born I simply couldn't listen to that track any longer. And I knew when I was standing there: its now. Its thé divine moment. It was a very special moment between me, the wonderful mother of Elie and Elie, who was also there (far away from the dancefloor tho). And its even more magical to share this magic with everyone that was dancing. Tears of joy, release of trauma and celebration of life. That is where goa-trance is all about! <3

Anoebis - The History Of Goatrance - 1994

1st of November is All Saints in Belgium, the day we go to the cemetery to honor and pray for the people we lost. Because of the happenings at Nova Festival and the fact I was on that spot that same weekend, I wanted to honour all my personal pals and friends that went to the other world while dancing in an imaginary perfect world. I did this tribute through music. Sometimes words can't express feelings, but music can. This set was played at the Old is Gold party in Belgium the week after the happenings and it contains only music by Israëli artists, and some tracks from Naor Levi's (Dj Audiophiller) compilation. On top of that, many of the titles/samples have a special meaning as well. It is a 3 hours long journey from more darkish acidic goa-trance to heavenly melodic blisfull music. All mixed with CDJ2000's and original cds.

Important addendum: this tribute is not political in any way and, as a pacifist, I am against all violence. I believe every innocent dead person is a disgrace and a shame for mankind and I can only hope war stops right now. As a young dad every video with kids and babies that died or were bombed, simply breaks my heart. I hope all spirits of people that loved to dance and are not alive anymore can join in heaven on the wildest goa-party ever! Whatever history, color, religion or culture you have!

After the 1996 - morning side, withpure melodic morning trance, I now tried to represent the more acidic, a little darker side of goa around that time! :)You'll see lots of more obscure tracks... Good music is not only from famous labels... you'll see ;) 
Next coming up... The 1997 mix! :) I think I will also make 2 mixes for that year :) Also, one morning mix and one more acid-trance mix!

And again, it was a big challenge...  as also in 1997 many of the tracks were not made for dj's, and thus, hard to mix. But I chose the tracks for their musical value, not for their mixing abilities. I hope I managed decently anyway :)This is the first of 2 mixes from 1997. As most of you know, I am not ONLY a goa-trance lover... It is, of course, my big passion, but my other passion is ambient. This mix is dedicated to the deep, beatless kind of ambient, with a hint of classical music here and there... For many people this is probably sleeping music (hence the name) but for me this is music like a womb. It takes care of you, gives you warmth and creates beautiful emotions! I know this is not for everyone, but enjoy anyway! :)

- Here it is only 2h 20 minutes, that is because the "bis" number was Aes Dana vs Asura - Elie! :) That made the set exactly 2h 30 minutes! :)
- The  other thing,  on Boom, I took the wrong Etnica cd (CD2 instead of 1) so Vimana was not played by me, instead I ended my set with Children of Stones by Hunab Ku ! :) Here, the original plan was done ;)

Goa is over 20 years old in the mean time. Time to have a retrodelic look! For this I dug in my huge cd & vinyl collection and decided to make a mix for every year for the period 1994-2017 to show the "new" generation of goa people how goa-trance evolved, and never really died ;)

This eighth mix is about 1999, mixed with 2 CDJ1000s and Pioneer djm300 (no lap top mixing involved!). Like usual, a serious challenge! All styles are captured in 1 mix... ZNA 2017, for sure the highpoint last year for the old school goa lovers! :) I was a happy man that I could be a goa guardian on the opening of the festival.  They asked me to play a unique old school set, and for this I dug very deep in my collection,with the following result! A more acidic start, going to more typical goa, floating into hypnotic stuff and a euphoric climax at the end! :)

This 10th mix is about 2001, mixed with 2 CDJ1000s and Pioneer djm300 (no lap top mixing involved!). In this period goa-trance was fading away... Some artists were flirting with full on, others with club trance, but in the end it was possible to make another smashing tracklist with tracks released after the topdays of goa-trance!

Anoebis - History Of Goa Trance 2001

ZNA 2019... the uttermost festival for pure goa-trance this summer! And they challenged me big time! :) To end the festival, they asked me to play a 4 hour set with futuristic goa-trance! The proof goa-trance is not only repitition of the "old", but leads a wonderful second life! Some more "rules". No music by artists that played on the festival, and because I would play during twilight time and darkness, I chose not to play too melodic/euphoric. Unfortunately, because of the virus that caught so many people, my set was shortened to 2.5 hours only during the event itself, but here you have the full set nevertheless! I was happy a lot of old school lovers came to me to say they were surprised to hear this type of modern goa-trance, and they didn't know it existed. :) Thanks again to Federico & Pedro for this chance and more important, thanks to all the artists and labels that kept goa-trance alive last decade! So, fasten your seatbelts and go on a serious 4 hours trip! :)
