Launching their Meanwhile Horizons imprint with suitable flair in August 2021 with “Beyond The Horizon”. Initially through a quartet of sparkling tracks, GMJ & Matter return to the series with a second edition. Seven new pieces now showcase the talents of established and newcomers alike within “Beyond The Horizon Volume 2”.
 
Fresh from his “We Are One” EP for Nick Warren’s The Soundgarden, Zankee Gulati opens the compilation with the atmospheric “The Magic Spoon”. Redolent in rolling percussive groove and thickly textured pads, a rippling arpeggio paves the way for a laconic lead synth to meander across the 9-minute piece, taking centre stage at the breakdown. Typically deep and brooding, Meanwhile regular, Imran Khan, highlights a raft of production magic within “Serenity”. Immaculately woven sonic patterns meander across the aptly named track as modulated pads and layered sequences mingle deliciously together. A heavy beat and regular off-beat percussion add to the trademark mesmerising vibe.

Continuing to showcase exciting talent, Madloch's Sound Avenue's welcomes Rockka back to the label for his first artist EP. Hailing from Sri Lanka, Rockka aka Lakith Adikaram has been releasing his own unique style of progressive music for the better part of three years. First emerging on the strength of a 2021 offering via Mistique Music, a single recorded alongside fellow countryman VegaZ SL, Rockka was immediately touted as a new talent to watch. Although younger than most of his contemporaries, the Nugegoda resident impressed going forward, quickly landing projects with Balkan Connection, Droid9, Yomo Records and Mango Alley, the latter of which has become his primary home of late. Rockka's creative partnership with Sound Avenue has been a fruitful one as well, debuting on label affiliate Future Avenue in 2022 as part of the popular Spring Sampler series. Continuing to hone his craft across the next two calendar years, the Sri Lankan would add 3rd Avenue and Sound Avenue to resume in 2023, with remixes for Subnode and about : river, before returning to Sound Avenue earlier this year with an impressive rendition of ‘Joo' by Secretly Famous. Now, on the cusp of a Pakistani tour, Rockka makes a welcome return to Sound Avenue for his first artist EP ‘Monsoon', alongside a remix from Futura City, a newly coined electronica alias for Albanian progressive house phenom Maze 28.

"Dutch artist Alex O'Rion's new album 'Nostalgia' blends different music styles, combining grooves, organic elements, and progressive sounds for a soulful journey with a playful nod to earlier electronic music.

Globally respected for his uplifting releases on labels spanning from Guy J's Lost & Found to Hernan Cattaneo's SUDBEAT, Alex has also shared his music through Anjunadeep, Meanwhile, Movement, and has been featured on compilations by iconic brands like Global Underground.

This album marks a natural evolution in Alex's career. Over the past 18 months, he was in the studio on an almost daily basis. Moreover, he brought the album on the road, drawing inspiration from the sights and sounds of his travels.

As a touring DJ, Alex has graced stages with headline sets across the globe, spanning from South America to Australia. The laidback warmth from these exotic destinations resonates within the immersive sound of this album.

The album is drenched in atmospheric vibes, yet retains the dance floor-focused energy that is the trademark sound of his uplifting style.

Working on the album allowed Alex to break away from his normal routines of producing bite-sized chunks of music that were released as singles or EPs, giving him the broad freedom to truly uncover the music that always resided within him.

In Alex's own words: "The album 'Nostalgia' gets its name because it reflects a sentiment that has grown stronger as I've aged. Fondly reminiscing about the music of a younger me, I often sense a certain soulfulness lacking in today's electronic music. In an attempt to explore this feeling, I went on a bit of a self-reset and a touch of reinvention. This involved changing my usual routines and adopting some old-school methods, such as sampling beats and instruments from vintage vinyl records, blending them with my current sound. The album is intended to feel personal and intimate for my listeners. I aimed to create a moment of intimacy, as if they are listening to the songs alongside me while on their way home."

The 14-track release will be available through Solis Records, Alex O'Rion's newly established record label, launched in 2023."
