There’s a room in this house I never asked for,
Walls built from things people swore they knew.
Whispers stacked like bricks in the corners,
Laid down by mouths
That never spoke the truth.
Every story someone told about me
Got plastered in the paint before it dried.
I walk inside and feel the heat of judgment,
Like the walls are breathing
Every lie.

And I hear footsteps I don’t recognize,
Echoing things I never said.
Funny how rumors fill a house
Faster
Than anything I’ve lived instead.

These rooms built from rumors,
They creak with every name they said.
Every whisper shapes a corner,
Every lie gets carved in the bed.
These rooms built from rumors,
Where the walls repeat what isn’t true—
I try to tear the stories down,
But they rebuild
Just like they do.
I’m trapped between the shadows
Of who they swore I’d be—

Of me.

I see faces scratched into the drywall,
Drawn from words they passed around too fast.
People love to build you wrong
As long as the version fits
Their past.
I touch the wall and feel it tremble,
Like it wants to break but won’t let go.
Rumors age like water damage—
Ugly stains
That always show.

And I fight the urge to shout at ghosts,
But ghosts don’t care to hear the truth.
They only know what someone told them—
Not the me
I grew into.
