Jens Lissat & Bonzai All Stars – The Machine

German legend, Jens Lissat aka The Godfather Of  Techno, joins forces with our very own Bonzai All Stars for the next Bonzai Classics release titled, The Machine. Cut onto 12” vinyl, The Machine comes backed up with three solid remixes, offering a wide range of styles to get the party rocking. Jens Lissat is one of the biggest names in the club scene. His extraordinary career began in Hamburg in 1979 when he took up DJing. In the 90’s he was one of the founders of German Techno with projects like Interactive (Who is Elvis) and his label No Respect Records with his partner Ramon Zenker. Jens first appeared on Bonzai with his Prayers project, the track Imagination got a run out in 1997 on Bonzai Classics and Zounds and then in 2002 on XTC. The kings of the party aka Bonzai All Stars (Christian Fly Pieters and Dany Van Der Reiten) have been grabbing a lot of attention with their studio antics. This one marks their third effort as they take the retro rave sound, mix it up with contemporary techno grooves and spit out some good vibes.

Gracing the A side we have the Original Mix, which quickly forms into a dark, grizzly techno monster. Frantic patterns converge to the backdrop of powerful kick drums and a sinister pad. The break reveals a classic element before the build-up takes us to a huge climax that will definitely excite the floors. The mighty Push fills the A2 slot, digging out his infamous techno style for an adrenaline fuelled ride. Pounding kicks and superbly constructed percussions whip up the crowd as gnarly synth stabs and gritty basses contrast with dreamy vox and trance-like sounds. On the flip, Anonymize takes up the B1 slot. Fresh off the back of his Bonzai Classics debut – Zombie Woman, the remix here takes on a full-blown techno persona. Dark and twisting, the groove lures you in, forcing you to move. Kai 5 concludes the release with a top-notch remix. Better known as Paul Mendez, his newly formed Kai 5 project debuted here with Strange Days, which quickly climbed the charts on many portals. On the remix, the order of the day is to deliver maximum impact and, thanks to a strong, rhythmic drum arrangement and dark rumbling basses, he does just that. Sweeping synths roll through as acid lines dish out that familiar squelch. An infectious groove that is destined to burn up the floors.

The spotlight continues to shine on the rising Belgian techno virtuoso, Anonymize, also known as Jesse Rossell, who makes a welcome return to Bonzai Records with the explosive four track EP titled 'Somebody Scream!'. Fresh from his last effort here with a solid remix of DSTRTD SGNL's 'Restart The Sun' Jesse's journey exemplifies being captivated by the electronic dance music allure at a young age, blossoming into a promising career. Anonymize stands as a beacon of anticipation for greater achievements in the years to come. A relentless artist, continually pushing the boundaries of creativity, he is poised to send reverberations throughout the electronic music world for many years to come. The EP opens with the title track 'Somebody Scream!', which gives us a taste of the chaotic techno goodness to come. Heavy pumping kicks, frenetic hats and a pulsating subby offset bass get us moving as a classic spoken vocal comes through leading to a massive build-up and thunderous drop. The perfect high energy groove to rock any party and festival. 'Beat That Melody' is up next, introing with a distinctive retro vox sound which is joined by thumping kicks and a raucous build-up before a mesmerizing melodic sequence takes over, giving way to a hands-in-the-air moment filled with energetically charged scathing synths that leads to a huge drop and back to those superb kicks. 'Come On!' opens with powerful, classic style heavy kicks which are joined by retro-themed vox and synths. The track is the perfect synergy between delicate melodies and raw, edgy hard techno that speaks to generations of the jump-style nature of the groove. 'Fuck You Hard' is a love song that ramps up the pace with a solid, punchy kick and spoken word intro. Classic downshifting synths combine with frenetic rave plucks and a frenzied percussion section to deliver a hard-edged groove that will keep bodies locked and the dancefloor rocking.

Anonymize - Beat The Melody (Original Mix)

Our next release features a banging remix of the club stomper One Finger by DJ One Finger. DJ One Finger is a collab between Austria's Christopher Just and Clemens Neufeld and UK Acid pioneer Tim Taylor. These guys were responsible for a number of now considered classic tracks and have released under various guises on a host of labels including Missile Records, Clockwork Recordings and Red Alert to name a few. Originally released on Planet Of Drums in 1996, this one became an instant hit with the spirited club fraternity. On remix duties we have the on-fire Anonymize who has stamped out a solid niche for himself in recent times, notably on Bonzai where he's been churning out some outstanding remixes alongside his debut – Zombie Woman. On the remix, he sticks with the simplistic nature of the original, swapping out the 808's with booming thumps that are sure to rock the bass bins alongside shuffling percussions that keep the rhythm flowing. Scattered with classic vocals and enormous hoover stabs, the groove is heavily influenced by that iconic main hook which is truly infectious on the dancefloor.

Anonymize is the brain child of Belgian DJ and producer Jesse Rosseel. A rising star in the nu rave/hard edged techno scene, he’s been raising his profile to new heights and carving a solid niche for himself over the last number of years. It all started when he was very young, he found a passion for music thanks to his family’s musical background. He began playing drums, but in 2014 he was caught by the DJing bug at a festival, which soon led to him getting his first gigs in and around Belgium and ultimately onto the stage at the hugely popular Legacy Festival. Inspired by leaders in the techno scene, he started to create his own music and in 2016 he secured his first release and soon found himself on labels such as Ithica Records and Cherrymoon Records. His foray onto the bigger stage came about after he decided to remix the famous ‘The House Of House’ by Cherrymoon Trax, but it would take some perseverance and a desire to succeed before his remix was noticed by the mighty Bonzai Records. That persistence paid off, in early 2022 he secured his Bonzai debut with the superb ‘Zombie Woman’. Big remixes on huge tracks such as ‘One Finger’, ‘The Machine’ by Jens Lissat & Bonzai All Stars, ‘Producelast’ by Trancescape and ‘The Searcher’ by DJ Furax soon followed, with his interpretation of ‘The Machine’ – along with remixes by Push and Kai 5 - getting a vinyl release in 2022. He’s an artist who is always working hard to push his creativity to its limits, so he can continue to send shockwaves through the electronic music world.
