Born out of a lockdown night when their usual Saturday night plans were off limits, Defected regular Darius Syrossian and South Records boss George Smeddles decided to cook something up for the anticipated return to the club. With just a vocal to work with, they decided to produce something with the 90s, uplifting vibe dancefloors would be needing. Demonstrating the same addictive, dancefloor-ready grooves seen on their previous collabs like ‘Get Toast’ and ‘Blood Orange’, this latest joint venture once again delivers the heat. With its deep organ bassline, playful keys and irresistible 4/4 swing, this record oozes club appeal in a way you can only expect from producers rooted firmly in the scene. It sure feels good to be Back In The Dance.

Italian duo Len Vitz and Charlie Iapicone debut on Hot Creations with ‘Playhouse’, backed by a remix from  Cologne favourite Kolter.  

Featuring as two young talents rising from the Italian house scene, Len Vitz and Charlie Iapicone are gearing up  for their biggest release to date following a series of EPs across recent years. Joining forces for the first time to  rework Ann Peebles’ 1972 soul hit ‘I’m Gonna Tear Your Playhouse Down’, they debut on Hot Creations with their  collaboration ‘Playhouse’ - backed by a stellar remix from Cologne-based DJ/producer and label boss, Kolter. 

“The EP was born by chance, an experiment which turned out successful. It’s a mixture of sounds and  recordings accompanied by a taste of vintage soul music.” - Len Vitz.  

Harnessing the original production’s resonant vocals and funk-fuelled riffs, ‘Playhouse’ brings a 70’s classic to  modern dancefloors as slick drums and slinking bass grooves reveal a track made for memorable moments. On  the flip, Kolter’s remix brings an additional slice of vigour and energy as he utilises signature chords and skippy  percussion to shape up proceedings.

Founder of esteemed Amsterdam born label PIV, Dutch producer and selector Prunk delivers his anticipated Defected debut 'Keep It Simple' featuring Rona Ray. Following the release of his acclaimed 2023 album 'Le Funk', a record that showcased his in-depth, genre-spanning knowledge of house music, this aptly timed single on Defected follows a number of international DJ appearances for the London label brand. Showcasing his signature addictive grooves, with Poland based Rona Ray on vocal duties, 'Keep It Simple' is a flawless demonstration of the irresistible Prunk sound, where classic influences meet something infinitely modern.

Leicester-based duo Murphy’s Law collaborate with London producer Guy Mac for ‘PASSION’, a bouncy DFTD release set to do major club damage. Comprised of brothers Sonny and Finn Murphy, Murphy’s Law have spent over a decade refining their eclectic, groovy mix of house, techno and soul, earning them support from major tastemakers Jamie Jones and Joseph Capriati and extensive airplay on BBC Radio 1. Their style is a match made in heaven with Guy Mac, a house and techno producer who has supported artists like Nic Fanciulli, Solardo and Pig&Dan, also catching the attention of Jamie Jones who released Guy’s ‘Sonic Boom’ on his lauded Hot Creations imprint. Together the three unveil ‘PASSION’, a DFTD club belter carrying serious movement thanks to its springy synth bass and loop-based production. More energy, more ‘PASSION’.
