The third installment of 3024′s KJL series is a reissue of a track off my first album “Great Lengths”. “Is This Insanity?” was the first collaboration with the inimitable vocalist and great friend Stephen Gordon a.k.a. The Spaceape – who sadly passed away on October 2nd 2014. The song was written shortly after Stephen’s daughter was born and deals with the rollercoaster of emotions one goes through taking care of a new life. You carry on because there’s a responsibility, but at the same time you ask yourself whether this is insanity? The tune got a massive boost in 2010 in the shape of Ben Klock’s monumental remix of it. That record has been out of stock for ages, so I put that on the B-side here for you. I treat this record as a memory but you’re more than welcome to bang it out in the club of course! Enjoy..“

Korpus 9 welcome Robert S for four new cuts of scintillating techno. The Portuguese artist also plays live and is a real techno talent who draws on a wide musical world for his influences while releasing on labels like Sleaze Records, Planet Rhythm and Robert Limited.

Opener Angels of Acid is a driving, stripped back tune with a warped acid line. It has cowbells pinging up top and sweeping synths that will lift the club to the next level. Blood Receiver is even more heads down, with searching synths spraying across the face of the cut, which is utterly mysterious and takes you down into a brand new realm. It's rumbling and arresting and designed to really draw you in. 

Espasmos is then another chunky cut, with smart filter use building the pressure in the drums. Icy hi hats are layered over the top and the heavy kicks keep your body moving. Last of all, Acid From East is a rickety techno roller, with more thoughtful pads bringing a sense of cinematise to the most physical of drums. 

All in all this is another powerful EP.

Masters Slam return to Soma in overwhelmingly top form with their latest release, the Inversion EP. After the release and finalisation of their Archive Edits project at the tail end of 2019, the dynamic Glaswegian duo set about working on new, original material, culminating in this expertly produced 4 track EP in which the pair really work through their peak time Techno material. 

Title track Inversion has them with the foot firmly on the gas as relentless percussion drives atop a warping and tripped out synth hook. Primitive Shift edges more on an acid tip as a jacked up 909 beat thunders behind a pulsating 303 sound. Container continues the jacked up feeling with the pair really working up the distortion on the 909 beats, this time increasing the overall pace of the track with a turbo charged, rave powered sequence. Closing out the EP, Zero Dip doesn’t have the duo letting up on intensity as a more industrial vibe is prevalent throughout, created by searing drones and tough atmospherics moving across pounding drums.
