Antonio de Braga and Marco Lucchi - The Golden Eternity

This is a collaboration between the music producer LO and video artist DAPA Vision. Their creative efforts has resulted in a 40 minute VHS, released in limited edition (naturally) on Stålverk Records. Lo created the conteplative music, with its characteristic vinyl crackle, and DAPA Vision did the moving pictures with inspiration from mundane, everyday moments and TV static, a.k.a. "war of the ants". It was premiered at Gästrike konst (art festival) in april 2025.

The Fram is a Norwegian ship completed in 1892, which was used by Norwegian polar explorers from 1893 to 1912. The Fram was designed to drift in the pack ice without suffering damage from the enormous pressure of the ice. The ship was also well insulated due to the low temperatures in the polar regions.

Process notes - 

In Nov 2020, I started a video series that was mostly small electronic instruments and guitar pedals filmed from above. When I first started the series, I recorded a few test takes and I decided to use one of these as the basis for an entire album I plan to release this year and currently is in progress. This one was (probably) a Korg Volca FM, an old Electro-Harmonix Microsynth & a TC Electronic Nova.

Besides this recording, I also will use different synths to layer onto the original recording. For this piece, I am using some wavetable-layered-samples (as kicks, more or less), the Cherry Audio Chroma and the Arturia Mini. Each one of these I generally increased the resolution/speed of short midi phrases I wrote. This broke down some of the effects I had and did a few nutty things but I really liked how it fit right into the piece.

There was a sweet accident of feedback in the DAW that I captured and layered on near the end, too.

Step 1: It’s intriguing that the word “spook” regularly means “haunt” (verb) but also can mean “spy” (noun). Consider this.

Step 2: This project coincides with Halloween 2025, so imagine a spooky spy film, and write some music for it.
