LOW DOWN

The last days I spent repeatedly rehearsing on the piano, over and over again until the fingers are telling me to stop. Does it help..? Old guitarfingers are not easy to convince. The poem on the end is about the very short spring in north Norway where I originally comes from, close to the Barents sea.

Poem: 
Den nordnorske våren(see english further down)

Det buldre i skybankan ute i vest;
en intro på tunge tangenta.
Den nordnorske våren har sala sin hest.
No rir han med regnfaks i vestavindsblest
mot kysta som lenge har venta. 

Han dreiv og førsov seg – i år som i fjor.
Så søtelig låg han og drømte,
og våkna først då han fekk sola i nord.
Då for han i ørska av senga, og svor
på å ta igjen det førsømte! 

Den nordnorske våren har ullvotta på,
og skjorta e skeivknept og åpen.

Han fann ikkje støvlan – så fort sku det gå.
– Men midnattslyskappa, den hekta han på,
og nattsol og mildver e våpen.

Akkorden må holdes, og tia e kort:
Det røktes fra sørlige fjorda
at telen og vintern e jaga på port,
så her må det jobbes litt faderlig fort,
førr pottet og frø skal i jorda.

Så tørke han sveitten ei juninattsstund
og brer ut et smørblomsterlaken,
og lest som han legg seg og tar seg en blund.
Men akt dokker, jente, han e rett en hund:
Han ligg der på lur – og e naken!



In English(hard to translate from north Norwegian):

It rumbles in the cloud bank out west;
an intro on heavy tangent.
The northern Norwegian spring has saddled its horse.
Now he rides with a splash of rain in a westerly wind
towards the coast which has long been waiting.

He was almost oversleept - this year as last year.
So sweetly he lay and dreamed,
and only woke up when he got the sun in the north.
Then he got out of bed and swore
on catching up on the neglected!

The northern Norwegian spring has wool mittens on,
and the shirt is crooked and open.
He did not find the rubber-boots - that was how fast it was going to happen.
- But the midnight-light coat, he hooked on,
and night sun and mild weather are his weapons.

The piecework must be kept, and the time is short:
It is rumored from southern fjords
that tele and winter are chased at the gate,
so here it must be worked a little fatherly fast,
for potato and seeds should be in the soil.

Then he wiped his sweat for a moment of June night
and spreads out a sheet of buttercup,
and pretends to lie down and take a nap.
But beware, girls, he's just a dog:
He's lying in wait - and he's naked!!
