Techno set

As often extensively touring as he is on the quest for new sounds (‘the iron fence in front of the studio’, ‘the wooden door in the toilet’ among other samples), or building instruments from scratch with his pals (see Modular Organ System), Phillip Sollmann’s experimental zeal underscores a conceptual framework that reveals a collage of influences as broad as Basic Channel, Francis Bacon, Japan or the room he’s sitting in. This often amounts to smooth and genre-busting segues on Dial, Curle and Ostgut Ton. Marcel Dettmann is a rarity in electronic music. His precocious disdain for rules has been one of the key ingredients for a decades-spanning arc that started sometime around the fall of the Berlin Wall (with early exposure to post-punk, industrial and synth pop) and continues to this day. His leitmotif is instantly recognisable, expertly layered, playfully syncopated, and though his influence is everywhere, no one quite manages to copy his pioneering sound. His formative influences surface frequently, serious atonal arrangements that follow the logic of EBM descending into a flurry of protean melodies; maybe this versatility is why, for a long time now, Dettmann’s sound has been so synonymous with a city in flux. Bassiani Podcast 130 is an excerpt from his Bassiani set back in March, and you’ll want to make sure you don’t miss this one, because there’s really no one like him.

This mix was recorded live from Reaktor's Katharsis event in 2017.  For those that don't know, Katharsis happens once a year and is dedicated to the faster, harder and more industrial side of techno.  This was my entire 3 hour set from that night.

Over the last few years we have built a steady relationship doing events together and sharing our passion for this music.  We are teaming up once again for ADE 2018 and releasing this mix as a thank you to all our followers and supporters.

So my different roots and influences builded up Sev Dah sounds, but most of all the Balkan blackness clings strongly to the bleak percussions and rigidly uneasy synthetics that unwillingly fuse into his strongly individual take on techno. Answer Code Request Vinyl Mix 10/2012

The first edition of the Fast Forward Audio Series for this decade, we present to you a special collaborative effort between Viscerale and Adam Askov of Funeral Future, they named the mix "Life is not a Beach". It came about as the result of a close friendship that was formed a year ago.
The tracks featured in the mix were all fixtures at the local club Tuben back in the early ‘00s and have been superbly mixed by Viscerale. It’s a rare glimpse into a sound that preceded our own contributions to the Copenhagen techno.
