[ Incendie ]

Incendie is the solo moniker of Arthur Bdt, a Berlin-based producer, DJ and Area Z’s manager. After releasing his debut album via UndermyFeet. in 2021, along with contributions to several V/A compilations and collaborative projects, he recently presented his first club oriented EP ‘One Cursed Dance’, via aufnahme+wiedergabe. 

His sound is characterized by a fusion of club music together with metal and industrial influences, conveying dark and introspective atmospheres without restricting to a specific musical genre. 

In this set for Gwi Myeon podcast series, Incendie displays his musical inclinations towards cinematic and ritualistic techno with hints of post-metal, rap and rhythmic noise.

In this episode of F.B.I. Patholgy Report we explore the 1948 Japanese Imperial Bank Mass Cyanide Poisoning incident that occured at Shiinamachi [Toshima,Tokyo], which led to the arrest and conviction of painter & artist Hirasawa Sadamichi [平沢貞通]. Despite the lack of evidence, he was sentenced to death in 1950, awaited execution by hanging, and eventually died of natural causes in 1987. There have been numerous theories, rumors & sayings that a man posing as a Government Health worker ordered the victims to drink the poison, in order to protect themselves from a hypothetical incoming outbreak of dysentery, while others are arguing crime was committed by a soldier/member of Unit 731 [:Covert biological, chemical warfare research & development unit of the Imperial Japanese Army that engaged in lethal human experimentation and biological weapons manufacturing during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937–1945) and World War II]. Today is such a somber day for the underground community. We have lost such amazing artists, and I have no words to express the deep sadness I feel. I've been listening to their discography the entire day, trembling as I remember their music, which has been a huge inspiration to me for the past 10 years. I've chosen my favorite tracks and tried to put together a tribute mix. Tears streamed down my face while recording, and I still can't believe it, but I feel gratitude for having had the chance to see them perform. May their art live on forever. 🤍🕊️

“Dead eyes” are what you see when the spark of presence is gone, when the gaze becomes flat and unfeeling. They don’t track the world with curiosity, don’t soften with warmth, don’t betray the smallest flicker of life behind them. Instead, they look vacant, as if the person is only half-there—or not there at all.

Psychologists might call it dissociation, emotional numbness, or the drained look of depression. Trauma can hollow the eyes until they no longer shine, leaving only a glassy stare. Burnout, exhaustion, even despair can strip away the subtle movements we instinctively expect, making the gaze uncanny in its stillness.

What unsettles us is that eyes are supposed to reveal the soul. When they go lifeless, it feels as if something essential has slipped away. The body is alive, but the windows look out onto nothing. And that nothing stares back.
