This is one of my first pieces recorded, taken from an idea of a musical I have, called "The Nightingale". Playing oboe is Shaun Little (MMus from Royal Northern College of Music) and on piano is Mark Spence (BMus from University of Cape Town).

In an attempt to write in sonata form years back I came up with this first movement performed by an accomplished pianist, Francois Botha (MMus from University of Cape Town). Rachmaninov's use of simple melodies over a blanket of thick harmonic structure was of particular inspiration in writing this piece.

Piano Sonata in E flat major - Allegretto con rubato

This four movement sonatina was recorded as a raw live recording in 2011 performed by cellist, Aristide Du Plessis (MMus from Zurich University) and accompanied by Francois Botha (MMus from University of Cape Town). It was a composition that awarded me the Meyer Levinson Prize at UCT for best original composition.

A composition inspired by Shakespeare's "Antony & Cleopatra", this orchestral piece features an amazing dramatic soprano, Goitsemang Lehobye. As this was my debut orchestral work as composer and conductor, it will always be one of the pinnacle moments in my life.
