For our August 2023 podcast, we welcome an artist we love at THISBE: @lamverte. 
It´s not really a coincidence, since the Paris-based artist is about to release his first track on the label, a remix of @pyrame´s upcoming track "Senses High". 

Except the unexpected -  or rather  - don´t expect anything else than a gem from the talented producer. More on that in the weeks to come. 
In the meantime, La Mverte delivers a groovy mix - with that idiosyncratic touch that characterises the artist -  for our "Asymptotic Disorders" series . You will feel at home from the first to the last minute. Well, at least we do, to our greatest delight. Do you?

L.A. sensation Aldridge Brothers, known for their fun and psychedelic dj performances and for their party Better Late, join Roam Recordings with their single Open World. Like the duo, Open World can’t be pinned to a sub-genre. Open World brings together elements of synthwave, house, and disco into something entirely new and special. The single is backed by frequent roam contributors Lauer and Mijo. Lauer is up first with an old school club sound with a steady beat and epic pianos. Mijo strips down the original into a heavy driving version exemplifying the sound we are loving from Mexico right now. All three tracks are unique and complementary making this a versatile release for discerning crowds.

On Friday 8th September Morocco was struck by the strongest earthquake on record for over a century. Hitting the High Atlas mountains, around 70 kilometres southwest of Marrakesh, the 6.8 magnitude quake has killed over 3000 people and impacted the lives of over 300,000 more.

As a way to raise funds for families and communities impacted by the disaster, we’ve rallied friends together for ‘Tadamoun: A Compilation for Moroccan Earthquake Relief’.

Compiled in collaboration with Geneva-based DJ and producer Reda Saiarh, the release features 24 tracks contributed by artists from across Europe, including Anatolian Weapons, Romain FX, Justine Forever, Cornelius Doctor, Zaatar and more. Musically it travels across many sounds and styles too, from ambient electronica, trip hop and leftfield bass to chugging Italo, jackin’ new beat and trippy techno.

All proceeds will be split 50/50 between two charities who are helping to raise money for those affected and to rebuild communities that have been devastated: Atlas Kinder, a charity who supports abandoned children in Morocco, and Insaf, a non-profit organisation that protects and supports women and children.

DJ, producer and compilation curator Reda Saiarh: “‘Tadamoun’ means Solidarity in Arabic - my mother instantly suggested this word as the title of the release. Following the events [in Morocco], I wanted to help in a way that brought many talents and friends together. Artists from different countries around the world showed their appreciation to Morocco and its population in a moment of communion. In response to tragedy, music is the answer - I encourage you to help and share by purchasing this various artists' compilation. A list of charities is available for anyone who wants to donate or help directly, and we also suggest you listen to other compilations that are helping the same cause including these from Astro Fever International and ZNZL.

I'm really thankful to all the artists on the compilation for contributing their brilliant music for such a great cause. It means a lot to make a fusion of worldwide artists and especially friends, including the Hard Fist Crew, Neskeh and Romain FX, as well as Rosie for her outstanding coordination behind the scenes. My sister has also been really involved, collecting donations and resources for families who are affected. This was a family affair from the beginning - thanks to Ransom Note for making it happen!”

Japanese artist Gem Wallow makes her debut on Playground Records with her very first solo Ep 鼓動 KODOU.

A solid piece of art composed by three songs coming from nature and its elements. An Ep that crosses different soundscapes like ancient haikus cross generations. Full of life and organicity, groove and fluidity. An impeccable work that is completed with two epic remixes by the Australian Francis Inferno Orchestra and the brother duo Simple Symmetry, who surf in the waters of psychedelia and krautrock to give the final touch to this masterpiece.

The wind is blowing, the leaves rustle in rhythm to nature's heartbeat.

Oblako Maranta is a duo formed by Andrey Redkov and Antonio de Oto. “Tribal Trabant” was created with collaboration taking place between Saint Petersburg and Rome. It is characterized by the exceptional qualities and unique elements of their musical alter egos, Radial Gaze (Andrey) and A-Tweed (Antonio). Logical’s third vinyl release showcases an intriguing blend of Eastern-inspired disco vibes, complemented by powerful acid-infused tribal-techno sounds. The album also includes two dystopian club remixes by label owner Mike Sacchetti and Lisbon based, Anastasia Zems.

This week I was joined by @tronik-youth & @the-stockholm-syndrome in the su\tudio to discuss their Stockholm Youth collaboration. The project began in Melbourne when Neil Tronik youth was in town for @neinrecords Uk 2019 tour. With one ep under their belt and remixes of Gunci Aci & Man 2.0 the duo’s workflow is consistent.

Since then they have been working on several tracks and almost completed an album. So we are very excited to hear from them and what they have in store for us.

XPRESS-IONS Radio Ft. STOCKHOLM YOUTH. EP.50 (23.10.23)

You would think these dark and brooding tracks were written during a global pandemic, or some sort of existential crisis. But according to Nathan Hall, they were not. Partial to the darker, more introspective and weighty songs on his favourite albums he claims "dark music makes me happy". Filled with heavy stomping rhythms, sleazy synths and tension tension tension. Both NOL and The Good Stuff called on two completely singular artists to lend their voices to the source material. For NOL it happened to be a chance meeting at a gig in Moscow, Kira Lao's incredibly clever play on words only adds to the distorted and dystopian atmosphere with several ways to describe "NOL", or Nothing in Russian. SpaceAgePoetry (aka Justin Samgar) steps in on The Good Stuff with his eerie predictions of conspiracy and inequality repeating "the best things in life are free, I'm not paying for this S#*t".

Nathan called on a few of his favourites to re-imagine the originals. Italian power duo Alien Alien re-emerge for a long and blissed out "bolero ecstasy" remix of NOL. Label staple and stompy sample master Sakuri sped up The Good Stuff and drove it home straight to midtempo madness. Finally, A-tweed molded The Good Stuff into playful modular territory with his "Cylons" Remix.
