Where stars drench the sky in hues of infinity, amidst the chaotic waves of supernovas, Sleem Gleam emerges from the abyss to debut a fusion of electronic rhythms and reverberated riffs that crash against the shores of reality.

Riding on a hot acid groove and descending into an electric whirlpool, “Lava Barrels at High Tide” is a stripped-back oceanside bop that epitomizes the swell. Up next, “Totally Pitted” hits maximum wetness with an iconic bass line and blazing flanged-out hats guaranteed to jostle a noggin.

On the flip side, the upbeat electro jam “Cosmic Rip Current” presents a hazard to beach-goers in the form of a thick and psychedelic stellar blip-swirl. Lobotomy Party sends it home at high speed with twacked-out vocal samples and surreal pulsating bass.

Sleem Gleam is the new surf-inspired alias of Minneapolis-based Kajunga co-founder Ry Johnson, aka Ryote. He has been making and releasing electronic music since 2007 and DJing since 2011.

Info: Capiuz returns on the label with a new club-ready album that slashes through a nocturnal forest landscape with fluorescents and violent bursts of color. Taking its name from a series of paintings called “Bande di Fiori Notturni” by Italian artist Alice Visentin, the project goes through a wide array of influences and bpms. Terra Nuda (naked earth) acts as an opener fusing a foggy drone with drum breaks and dance hall syncopations. Hectic follows up with a more bass oriented attitude incarnated in a heavy pounding kick pattern and driven by metallic drums with a restless spirit. The sounds and textures of Fiori Notturni are heavily inspired by the works of John Cage and his use of percussive instruments for both rhythmic and textural purposes. These influences become pretty clear in slower cuts like Black Needle and the title track, where jingles, rattles and other high-pitched instruments create a moving bed for the rhythmic section. Other works such as 0400 and the collaboration with label head B E N N, Lunar Eclipse, bring a faster pace to the project with a higher focus on rhythmic layering. Before giving its way to the Ancestral Vision remix, the “night” is closed off by Hallucinogen, a longer track driven by a steady kick that plays with different odd timed patterns to create an exciting and enveloping trip.

Capiuz is the experimental dance project of producer and performer Luca Favaro. Based in Italy, his genre-merging production focuses on exploring rhythm and sound design in a club context. Often leaning towards live performances, Capiuz’s music takes the form of a heavy hitting outburst filled with heavy bass, breakcore progressions and granular textures. He is currently the host of a show on Radio Raheem and has published with Unizone, Over My Body and Early Reflex. As a programmer he’s developing max for live devices with HIDE Productions, including granular audio effects and instruments and flexible percussive synths.

Jan Macháček aka Ancestral Vision is a Prague-based producer, sound artist, DJ and co-founder of Unizone label and radio show. His productions are full of experimental sound design that fills the gaps between earworm-ish melodies and contemporary club echoes. Compositions written by Ancestral Vision are often both epic and intimate, serving as a personal diary of his sound research practice and studio jams.

PREMIERE : Sleem Gleam - Cosmic Rip Current

Aarhus’ @salo_cin aka half of Circuit900 makes his solo debut on Flippen Bits with four spectacular drum-driven party starters and an intriguing half time stepper remix by Sobolik.

Salo Cin’s original productions uncannily balance sweaty club vibes respiration and climate controlled big-room aspiration, combining heavy hitting percussion with meticulous sound design.

Opener Alpine Bed kicks off the EP ferociously with wobbling sub basses, vocal chops and a beautifully effected percussion hook.
Clock In keeps the energy up with a psychedelic synth lead, and vocals announcing the beginning and end of the shift, while OKO goes all out with tumbling FX dancing around a solid riddim groove. Free Fall sounds just like the name suggests: a rollercoaster ride of a rhythm track with trippy sound design and precise drums. New York’s Sobolik flips Clock In into a half time stepper in their tripped out Commuter Dub remix with added dub FX and micro melodies.

"The inspirations for this ep came from different moments I lived (or experienced?) during the past 6 months:
From a few but very interesting club nights out in Berlin, to my discovery of the post-dubstep movement that basically paved the way to modern genres that I'm producing now, till the tens of hours of Rinse FM (or "radio mixes" idk which better) mixes I listened to at my new workplace where I was spending most of the day alone in the gloomy winter of the city.

I usually like to put a little playful touch to my tunes, but this time I felt like I had to focus more on a darker progressive-techno sound. Maybe because my sound matured, or maybe its just a phase. I don't know, but I'll keep on following the traces that brought me here."
