As my compositional techniques expand, I often find myself remixing earlier recordings that I made, developing rough ideas into full tracks. As I begin to venture into the world of remixing other artists, I am finding this experience invaluable. 

'No Fluke' is an example of this process; the original idea was made on my loop pedal, where it sat for some time before I remixed it in to it's current version, with the time away from it giving me a different perspective on how to proceed. Interestingly, the vocal sample is from a field recording of an audience I was using for another project. I just caught a woman's voice in the background at the end of the clip and ended up using it in this track. I've no idea what she is saying but believe it is Dutch or German. I'm fascinated by these tiny snippets of time and love the fact that long forgotten moments like this can be used musically, completely unbeknown to the person who is recorded :)

It's been a while since I put some of my own tracks together in a mix, but I played an impromptu Facebook live show recently and it kind of just....happened.

It was quite cathartic and some tracks that were buried on my old hard drive for years (Neptunian for example, from 2009) slotted nicely alongside recent tracks such as Shapeshifters and my new unofficial remix of Khruangbin & Leon Bridges 'Texas Sun'. It closes out with my remix of Parriahs 'Night Says Hello', featuring Olivia Pucci which was a pleasure to work on and started a lot of positive things in motion. Roll on 2021.
