Sydney based producer/DJ Andreas. debuts on Nightime Drama with four tracks of grooving, acidic dub-techno. Andreas is a record collector and employee of the Sydney based Something Else Records store. Being surrounded by endless crates oh hazy house and subtle techno and inspired by the meditative power of sound systems, the producer translates these influences into a very solid pack of punch deep techno drifters. With its dreamy pads, dub heavy stabs and vibrant drums, the Dune EP proves to be a well rounded serving of fresh dance floor grooves that emanate a quality far beyond that of a producers debut release!

RELEASE NOTES 

Denver-based Seafoam (Brian Cavender) is by far the most prolific of the talented Cavender brothers, but he has remained elusive for his 2+ decades long career in deep funk. After releasing a one-off 12-inch in 1999 on a small Denver label, Seafoam quickly found his way to the Guidance family by way of gatherings at Miami’s Winter Music Conference. A string of three twelves on Guidance from 2000 to 2003 cemented his legacy early in his career, however, having never quite reached the same heights as some of the Guidance greats, Seafoam’s output mysteriously declined around the time of the label’s demise. New releases dried up until the formative reissue campaign of Paris-based Rue De Plaisance in 2017, which culminated in the essential Collected Works 1999-2005 double LP. The flood gates opened, and a whole new generation of diggers and labels turned to his sound. And Seafoam, seemingly untouched by the passage of time, hunkered down in the studio with a steady release schedule—a new lease on life for the occult deep house assassin. 

“Swing Set” was birthed on Colfax Avenue and instantly became the focal point of Deep Club #07 with its heavy drum programming and distorted vocals. “Ha!” is a straight-ahead, no frills keyboard banger. On the flip, label acquaintance Snad (Kimochi Sound, Minibar, Courtesy of Balance, etc.) continues his meteoric rise with his signature tech house take on “Ha!”, while Seafoam injects a sample of his own drum work on “Jabo”, a trippy downtempo ode to James Brown’s esteemed drummer.

This is the last 12“ of the Pandemix Live Jams series. „Right About Now“ is built around a friendly Move D jingle dedication by Scott Grooves. A smooth flower with a breeze of calypso featuring live bass and guitar. After this gentle and rather uplifting opener, things get deeper with even more guitars and guitar synths. „The Bottom“ is a call for an end of the pandemic and the restrictions upon (night)life that came with it. Move D goes through some jazz inspired fusion modes on this one. Finally „The System Is…- Original First Take with E-Harp/Sitar“ offers the initial version of this song which was previously released on Smallville Records #57 featuring a second, more sparse mix. However, this original version is even more dreamy and introverted, but at the same time still a groovy little stomper with a steady techno pulse to close out this 12“ along with the whole set of 6 vinyl EPs.

Recorded in Kentish Town, London NW5, "Deep In NW5" tapped into the sound of London's deep house scene of the mid-late 1990s. The basic chords were written in my flat in Finsbury Park, but the entire production was done at a studio on Queen's Crescent, a not-entirely- salubrious area of Kentish Town. 

The other side, "A Question Of Logic", was written the month previously at a studio in London's Docklands. It's more techno in nature, and was influenced by chords of Derrick May and stuttered drum programming of Dave Angel.

I Had no doubt picking the artist which would take Lomidhigh Mixtapes virginity. K.atou had to be the girl. Despite the fact that she still hasn’t finished her ep for Lomidhigh Lmtd, I believe it will happen one day in the near future, hopefully 2010 will be the year. Back home in Athens after 2 years in Berlin the sailor has returned to her Mediterranean Sea, sipping drinks by the pool and skinny diving under the waterfalls. Wonder what she is up to besides enjoying life.

Where was the mix recorded ?
In a very special chamber that doesn’t allow BPM to be more than 120.

You’ve recently moved back home to Athens after 2 years in Berlin – too many parties ?
too many parties.. too little time.?! no I’m only child i wanted and had to be close to my family, after living away since I was 18 … plus that I’m from the Mediterranean and my DNA demands sun and above 30 degrees temp at summer time ..

What have you been up to lately, are you working on any interesting projects besides enjoying life and finishing your ep for Lomidhigh Lmtd ?
Sailing, swimming, travelling, eating .. working on several different projects, like recording vocals for several producers, making music, and enjoying a dry from gigs summer .. good conditions to be more productive and not have you waiting for another 2yrs for the EP.

I’m not even gonna ask you which club is your favourite club, everyone who knows you the slightest bit knows that Club der Visionaere is the place you are at – what makes this place so special to you ?
the location, the energy, the people that participate from all posts to this place, the willow tree, the opportunity to listen the most amazing music in a wonderful environment. the center of the world as we say.

How is the techno/house scene in Athens compared to Berlin ?
I wont compare… not yet.. but if things go as planned, Athens will be able to get its little piece of the techno pie soon. Athens is riding this wave that goes down and then of course it will go up.. something that I never felt happening in Berlin though.

I’m only aware of Lemos, Kreon and yourself from Greece, please name me some more artist that I should get into ?
Argy, GummiHz,And. Id, Mr. Statik, Novox, Ison & Solar, Ekkohaus, Tolis Q, Leon Sega.. I guess you got homework for the next few days.. just with those names.

…oh dear are they all from Greece.. At least I knew a good few of them from their productions.. Obviously not from their nationality.

On the 5th Sept. there´s the Athens Dance Festival – enTechno – ένTechno, the line up for the event looks massive, what is your expectations for this 24 hour party? Will this be a returning event in Athens ?
enTechno – ένTechno is a great collective work to show around Greece and the world how many artists and what a talent this country has, combined with the presentation of films that are dealing with the electronic music, a passion that has made many of us leave our country and now we have the chance to be all together again and dance for 24hrs.

You’ve been playing quite a few places around the world, which city did you enjoy the best ?
Tough one.. well.. USA in general is my fav place to play actually. the people really have fun, knowledge and they love dancing.. the community in USA is strong and with loads of fun. Detroit is the city I enjoy the most playing every time the past 4years I go there.

What do you pick up in the airport when you go travelling ?
A coffee mug for my mum from each and every city I have travelled to .. now she has a huge vitrine with all of them ..cigarettes and a bottle of whiskey (no surprise on that one I guess).

Lomidhigh Mixtape 001 K.atou

Molly’s RDV returns this December, rounding out the year with a reissue of material from 1994 by French artist Continental and backed by a remix from Cosmin TRG.
Amrboise Boret is a French engineer, mixer and producer located in Paris who released material under various guises from the nineties through to the early 2000’s. Here we see
his Continental moniker brough back into the limelight, highlighting a selection of material from the Pushin' It Up EP on Alliance Records.
Up first is ‘Flying Dub’, as the name would suggest a dub-infused excursion through gliding chord sequences, snaking bass licks and bright string sequences while swinging analogue drums dynamically evolve throughout. ‘Way U Jack’ follows, introducing a more Chicago leaning attitude rhythmically alongside low-pitched vocal murmurs, fluttering dub chords and a bumpy bass line.
Title-track ‘Whispers’ follows on the b-side next, employing ethereal atmospherics, flute like synth melodies, organ bass tones and crunchy, shuffled percussion. Rounding out the EP Cosmin TRG reworks ‘Whispers’, offering a contemporary twist on the original with intricately programmed drums, subtly nuanced introductions of the originals atmospherics, winding low- end pulsations and an overall ornate, dynamic feel.
