Very much a behind the scenes figure, Basic Chanel has recently crawled out from the emails to shimmy behind the decks. Hosting a regular radio show on Refuge Worldwide and running the long-standing music blog Untitled 909, Basic Chanel uses her platforms to share the music she loves and the stories behind the artist’s that makes them.

For this 4th episode of lazed mix series, Basic Chanel introduces us to a very specific selection of « beautiful dreamy ambient-leaning guitar music » she’s been collecting for a while. 

Basic Chanel : « When building this mix, I wanted there to be a hint of romance within the selection, something to pull on your heart (guitar) strings. Pure poetry. Music to make you feel.A soundtrack to the most radiant sunset in the middle of the Nevada desert. A couple of cowboys riding through the heat, making their way back home to their loved ones. Sitting around telling old campfire stories, of past romances, of people you are dreaming about, of those you long for. A mindful porch moment. Drifting away on the ranch. It’s a special time of year in the Mouthfull radio calendar, as this show marks both the stations birthday, and resident host @bella-johansson 's 4-year broadcast anniversary. 
The first some times broadcast was in August 2020; and was somewhat irregular; roughly every quarter, giving inspiration to the name some times; though this has evolved and she’s locked in to a regular monthly slot, so despite being in another hemisphere, says she’s been looking forward to putting her thoughts into sharing two hours of music. 

This broadcast is the first in a series of shows whilst on the road; Bel is also beginning to explore the addition of field recordings; dipping in and out of slinky moments of slowness and respite, picking up at points - leaning into the usual downtempo, trip hop, ambient, and interesting leftfield wonky stuff; soundtracking some of the energetic highs and lows of her travels over the past month.

what we find episode 5 featuring sanguine - over recent years, sanguine has been steadily stirring tides from ocean to ocean with music landing far and wide on labels like sure thing, oslated, and lost properties. With his latest sliding doors release, sanguine builds a deep and cloudy soundscape across many different tempos creating a rich sonic world with titles like ear gum and gone to taste a dream to match. This finely tuned method of design and arrangement translates to selection and storytelling in mixes with notable features online for series like pure space, maybe, and decay audio. For this mix, sanguine moves through downtempo sounds from artists like tosca, dawn again, ambien baby, and more.
