Ikenishi Gonsui (1650–1722) was a haiku poet from Nara who settled permanently in Kyoto in 1684. A collection of his works, entitled Ikenishi Gonsui no kenkyū, was published in 2003.

This all came about as a result of something Alan Bland mentioned on the Junto Slack. He pointed out that my having misspelled Disquiet as “Disquier” in the December 19, 2019, project title made him think of “Dischoir,” a possible Junto project. Thanks to Alan and to Jason Wehmhoener for helping me think this project through, and to everyone (over 50 contributors) who sent in samples.

Something different for me but I thought I’d try to meet the weekly Disquiet project with some ‘free’ improv - not sure it works but hey......! 
I took my trumpet outside to our shed whilst Storm Dennis was starting.  I placed my Tascam DR-05 on the floor to record both the external sounds of wind and rain and my trumpet. I had no preconceived ideas of melody and tried to respond to the weather. I wanted it to be as ‘in the moment’ as possible and do it in one take - so excuse the noodling!

“Aju Mukhopadhyay is an award winning poet, author and critic. He contributes different genres of literature to various journals: two of the ten books he’s published so far are of Japanese short verses: Short Verse Vast Universe and Short Verse Delight. His works have been widely anthologized and translated. He recently won the Best Author (non fiction) award at the Literoma Laureate Award.”
